Your role in helping us shape the future:

U.S. News empowers everyone to thrive. As a Product Manager in our Autos Vertical, you will work closely with a cross-functional team to drive the development of products and services from conception to launch. A critical component of this position will be translating the Product Strategy into development-ready product plans. First launched in 2007, our automotive site reaches millions of car shoppers every month. Our mission is to help them confidently choose the best car for them at the right price.

Are you up to the challenge?

  • Developing and executing product plans that align with the overall Business and Product goals, with a focus on building engaging site experiences for consumers in the car research and shopping process.
  • Lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, engineering, marketing, SEO and editorial, to ensure that the products and services meet the needs and expectations of consumers
  • Analyze quantifiable data and qualitative research to understand the needs and preferences of consumers when it comes to the automotive shopping experience.
  • Define and prioritize the product backlog through user stories and requirements to ensure that the most valuable features are delivered to the market in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that the products are delivered on time and within budget, and that they meet the defined quality standards.
  • Analyze product performance to make data-driven decisions about product improvements and enhancements.
  • Communicate regularly with stakeholders to ensure that they are informed about the progress of the products and services.
 
Position Requirements

You should definitely have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher or equivalent relevant work experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Software Product Management; 3 of which in the Automotive industry, with an understanding of the car shoppers, competitive landscape, OEM and Dealer products, and trends
  • History of owning and driving consumer facing products from ideation to launch to significant scale and revenue
  • Proven ability to make data-driven decisions and use data to inform product planning and decision-making.
  • Demonstrated business acumen, capable of quickly analyzing metrics and formulating monetization and business plans
  • Demonstrated experience in translating business strategy into user stories and development-ready artifacts supporting the agile development process
  • Deep knowledge of Ad Products technology and monetization
  • Knowledge of Video platforms, traffic and monetization
  • Technical enough to communicate directly with developers
  • Fluent in SEO best practices of how sites are constructed and how changes can impact Search traffic
  • Proficiency in the use of analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Google Ad Manager and Tableau
  • A passion for technology and innovation, with the ability to stay up-to-date on the latest trends and developments in the automotive industry.

  • In New York City, the anticipated base salary for this position is $70,000 to $115,000. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, interview performance, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job
