We currently have a WIC Technician opportunity available at our New Haven medical facility within our WIC department. The ideal candidate for this role will be enthusiastic, motivated and a team player. This position will be located out of our New Haven, MI medical facility located at 58144 Gratiot Avenue.

This is a full time opportunity; 40 hours per week, onsite position.

Hours will be gained Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm or 10:00 am - 6:30 pm (every Monday and 3rd Tuesday, 1/2 day Saturday every other month.

Community First Health Centers require all team members, including temps, contractors, interns, residents, students, etc. to receive the COVID-19 vaccinations subject to certain exclusions. CFHC is committed to granting reasonable accommodations in accordance with applicable laws.

Daily responsibilities of our WIC Technician may include:

  • Accurately obtain and record adult and child anthropometric data (height, weight and head circumference) following Federal, State and Local Agency policies and procedures
  • Manually plot anthropometric data on program-specified growth charts
  • Perform manual calculation of applicant income to determine program eligibility and inform applicants of their eligibility or ineligibility for program benefits
  • Accurately obtain and record client information including income, Identity, residency, proof of pregnancy and demographics
  • Screen applicants for recommended immunizations and lead testing
  • Complete quality control logs and records
  • Clean and sanitize equipment, instruments and work area adhering to State/Local Agency/CLIA and OSHA policies/procedures and standards
  • Issue program benefits and documents to participants following Federal, State and Local Agency policies and procedures
  • Conduct patient referrals as directed
  • Attend and participate in required continuing education, meeting(s) and in-service(s) as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in obtaining anthropometric measurements and blood samples preferred
  • Bilingual preferred; Spanish
  • Completion of MDHHS Lab/Anthropometric training for WIC with competency assessment; provided after hired if not completed prior
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters
  • High level of analytical and problem solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal guidance
  • Must understand Age-Specific Care
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, to effectively and tactfully deal with a diverse group of patients, staff, customers and community groups
  • General computer proficiency
  • Must maintain Basic Life Support certification
