SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing maintenance, repair and remodel projects for all Opportunity Village facilities and equipment.  The Maintenance Technician will perform maintenance and repairs for electrical, plumbing, equipment, building, painting, and preventive maintenance and general maintenance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Perform general building maintenance (i.e., carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, mechanical systems (HVAC and central plant) and landscaping).
  2. Perform preventive maintenance (PM) at all campuses including magical forest as scheduled and according to specifications on the PM task list.
  3. Diagnose and repair air conditioning/heating systems.
  4. Conduct small and industrial equipment repairs on facility maintenance equipment.
  5. Promote excellent customer service for all customers internal and external.
  6. Drive company vehicle to pick up orders, parts and supplies to complete work requests.
  7. Provide general maintenance assistance with special events and fundraising activities.
  8. Participate in all matters regarding the safety of persons and property at all facilities and special functions.
  9. Ensure compliance with regulatory and company policies and procedures.
  10. Must be able to work flexible hours.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

 
Position Requirements

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Ability to respond and work with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Must encompass professional demeanor.
  • Ability to drive a motor vehicle, operate an Ariel Lift, Forklift and ability to become proficient and certified in operating material moving equipment.
  • Ability to use hand tools competently and safely.

Language Skills:

Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, co-workers, and supervisors (verbal and written) and the ability to build collaborative relationships at all levels with proven ability to exhibit tact and diplomacy in sensitive situations. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, such as policy and procedure manuals, maintenance instructions, and other related documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries from other employees or guests. Fluency in English required, second language a plus. Ability to write detailed instructions and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations. Ability to define problems and draw valid conclusions.

 

Mathematical Skills & Reasoning Ability:

Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations. Ability to decipher various reports and maintains reports upon request.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and three (3) years of verifiable work experience in a facilities maintenance capacity repairing electrical, plumbing, mechanical and general maintenance; including three (3) years of air conditioning experience, with knowledge of risk management and workplace safety guidelines.
  • Forklift certification within six (6) months of hire.
  • Valid Nevada Driver License and a clean driving history.

  • Ability to endure varied noise levels from moderate to loud.
  • Manual dexterity to operate office equipment and examine documents, records and files.
  • Ability to tolerate stress and conduct tasks and successfully perform under critical deadlines.
