Job Description:

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and working closely with the Engineering Manager and other key stakeholders, the Project Engineer is responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring various engineering and technology development projects as well as leading select strategic initiatives.

NOTE: This role is subject to the incumbent's ability to hold and maintain an NRC Q-clearance, as well as their ongoing ability to maintain nuclear site access.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with project staff and stakeholders to develop strategic plans, cost estimates, schedules, and resource requirements needed to complete assigned projects.
  • Facilitate and contribute to the development of project plans and initiatives.
  • Lead engineering projects and various business initiatives as assigned.
  • Monitor, forecast, and report progress of assigned projects.
  • Identify and analyze project risks or potential problems and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to modify project plans as required.
  • Assist in the sourcing and development of key suppliers.
  • Ensure project compliance with Company plans, policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Prepare periodic project reports (progress, cost, schedule, etc.) for Company leadership and shareholders.
  • Assess business systems, processes, and procedures and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, increase quality, or reduce costs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Active DOE/NRC Q-clearance or equivalent (DOD Top Secret).
  • Bachelor's Degree from accredited university or college in relevant engineering discipline.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in project management, engineering, or related field.
  • Self-starter who can work in a team environment with minimal direction and supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing.
  • Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to set and maintain high standards of performance and accountability.
  • Proven interpersonal and leadership skills with demonstrated ability to think strategically.
  • Ability to navigate and lead others through ambiguity or uncertainty.
  • Strong technical acumen.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient at Microsoft Office suite and project scheduling software (Project, Primavera, etc.).
  • Ability to work extended hours on occasion and travel as required (~10%).

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in engineering or business administration.
  • Project management certification or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated track record of project delivery on-time and on-budget; process improvement.
  • Understanding of the nuclear fuel cycle industry and technology, especially uranium enrichment and the processing, handling, and storage of UF6.
  • Experience and familiarity with technology development and commercialization projects and processes.
  • Experience in the engineering, procurement, construction, and/or operation of nuclear or chemical processing facilities.
  • Working knowledge of CAD and related engineering software platforms.
  • Experience working in classified and/or highly regulated environments.
