Brief Summary of Position and Requirements
Our Maintenance department is looking for a general maintenance technician to join their team. You must have journeyman-level electrical skills and should have experience in one or more of the following skilled trades: plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, building automation & controls, or mechanical piping. Must have experience working in a safety-oriented environment. Must be adaptable, team orientated, a self-starter requiring little supervision, able to manage time effectively, and work safely.
Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or one-year related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must be willing to work occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed per department's rotation schedule.This full-time position is eligible for benefits. Compensation: Bargaining Unit Position. Initial Step is $18.27 per hour plus a comprehensive benefit package. A Collective Bargaining Agreement covers this position.

Summary
Performs journeyman-level skilled maintenance tasks as part of the Maintenance department, in support of the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. Maintains, repairs, and installs physical plant systems including, but not limited to, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, exhibits, and paths on grounds by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Receives written work orders or verbal instructions from supervisor.
- Performs plumbing, electrical, carpentry fabrication, welding fabrication. Installs system material and components in accordance with blue prints, manuals, building codes and ASDM operating standards.
- Performs general painting on buildings inside and out.
- Maintenance, repair and installation of plumbing systems though out the Museum.
- Maintenance, repair and installation of telephone and data cabling systems.
- Maintenance, repair and installation of ASDM Filter Building pumps and water systems.
- Performs scheduled preventive maintenance on all ASDM refrigerators, freezers, and other equipment.
- Assists other departments as required.

Education and/or Experience
Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Journeyman-level electrical skills are required.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

The employee must have a valid Arizona driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
