About the Organization Established June 15, 1971, Valley Community Services Board is a publicly funded organization where citizens of Staunton, Waynesboro, and Augusta and Highland Counties can receive Behavioral Health, Substance Use and Developmental Services services. Valley Community Services Board serves as the single point of entry into publicly funded mental health, developmental, and substance use disorder services for these localities.

Description

VCSB is looking for an ACT Peer Support Specialist. The Peer Support Specialist serves as a primary provider of Assertive Community Treatment to individuals experiencing severe mental illness or dual diagnosis.

Summary of Essential Functions

  • Provides direct Peer Recovery services to individuals participating in Assertive Community Treatment.
  • Provides emergency and crisis intervention and coordinates for hospital prescreening.
  • Assists in the provision of medical services, such as delivering and monitoring medications.
  • Takes an active role in fulfilling program needs and maintaining individual and team productivity standards.
  • Provides case and program consultation to individuals, organizations, agencies, groups, etc., that are involved with Valley Community Services Board consumers.

Minimum Qualifications

All applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications in order to be considered qualified for the position:

  • Associates Degree in Human Services
  • One year direct clinical experience with mentally ill population
  • QMHP-Adult, QPPMH, or QMHP-Trainee certification
  • CPRS Certification
  • Valid Virginia driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
