Other divisions include The Batch Box, SiDump'r, Feeding System, Beaver Bearing, and Upper Iowa Beef. General Purpose MSJM Properties Partnership (Niewohner Entites) is looking for a Swine Herdsman to assist with the daily care, feeding, processing, and barn upkeep of swine at unit to ensure welfare and wellbeing of the animals at our farrowing units. Duties/Responsibilities: Follow all production protocols and procedures to maximize swine production and efficiencies. Learn specialized skills necessary for smooth work flow. Become a skilled employee in animal husbandry to reduce stress of herd and maximize production. Follow daily task assignments in the department to achieve production targets. Complete production paperwork accurately and timely. Communicate effectively with area employees and farm management. Follow assignments and time frames to stay on task and meet time scheduled during a workday. Give daily input to lead person in area on production and animal health concerns. Complete production paperwork accurately and on time. Work with farm management to ensure completion of all work related injury paperwork and participate as necessary in accident investigation. Daily recording of monitored production items. Adhere to all bio-security protocols and give input to lead person in area for items out of compliance. Work with other team members in designate area to ensure bio-security audit deficiencies are corrected and brought into compliance in a timely basis. Follow all safety procedures and guidelines. Make sure all safety equipment is in place and utilize equipment as required. Learn and utilize accident prevention measures for designated area. Consistently monitor animal welfare procedures in designated area. Be Aware of area ventilation system and if it is in good working order. Regularly monitor the environment and provide input to lead person in area to achieve optimum comfort for the animals. The facility must be maintained and well-kept. Complete routine maintenance as assigned on a daily basis. Communicate non-routine repairs to lead in area. Other duties and projects as assigned by lead person and management.     Position Requirements Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or GED preferred. Ability to do hard physical labor. Strong commitment to team work. Ability to follow instructions and deal with standardized situations. Must have good attendance and be able to work weekends. Physical Requirements: Standing, walking and ability to be on feet 8 to 10 hours per day. Frequent bending, reaching, squatting, and kneeling. Frequent use of one or both hands/arms to grasp or pull. Occasional bending while pulling and/or lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds or requiring 50 pounds of force to move. Occasional bending while pulling and/or lifting objects weighing up to 100 pounds or requiring up to 100 pounds of force to move with assistance of another person as needed. Dress and Personal Protective Equipment: Must wear appropriate clothing for all operations to protect against injury. Niewohner's had been using a fleet of Sidump'r trailers in their operation and firmly believed in the quality and the value of the brand. With a growing product line, came the relocation to its current facility in Columbus, NE. The expansion to a 350,000 square foot factory has allowed for state-of-art manufacturing equipment to be installed and utilized. Upper Iowa Beef is a story about a community that came together because it believes we all have the right to know our farmers and know our food. We believe in providing humane care for our animals, respecting the farmers who raise our cattle, and providing transparent information to the families who will enjoy our beef at their dinner table.
