Description

The Church Building & Loan Fund (CB&LF) is a resource of the United Church of Christ.

CB&LF offers and promotes financing for the purchase, construction or renovation of church buildings, meeting houses, parsonages/rectories, and other facilities used by churches of the United Church of Christ (or by any Christian church without limitation to sect, denomination or name.) In doing so it seeks to develop mature and healthy justice-oriented congregations from the young, emerging and/or renewing churches that it uniquely serves.

CB&LF is dedicated to assisting new and renewing local churches with the purchase of their first building, along with technical and planning assistance. It also offers loans for site purchases; construction; existing building purchase, maintenance, or renovation; second-unit construction; refinancing; and capital campaign services. A core guiding principle for CB&LF today is to expand upon its tradition of leveraging assets for tangible, public, measurable impact in the advancement of mission and ministry. Aligning our strategic initiatives with the mission and values of CB&LF and the United Church of Christ creates greater leverage for impact by bringing all of CB&LF’s assets to bear in the advancement of mission.

GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The Senior Data Analyst explores historical, real time and future information to deepen CB&LF’s and Amistad Redevelopment Corporation’s (ARC) understanding of church and community demographics that inform the development of services and programs for current and future clients.

The Senior Data Analyst’s advances the research and analytic needs of CB&LF and ARC. The senior data analyst will fulfill research, data and analytic needs across the organization. The individual in this position should have experience in building capacity for utilizing data to make data-informed decisions and drive action.

The Senior Data Analyst brings advanced analysis, modelling, and performance measurement on projects across the organization. The Senior Data Analyst provides clarity on the purpose of data, how to capture, manipulate, interpret and apply it and then demonstrate the value and impact of this sophisticated science to inform CB&LF of growth opportunities and strategic planning. The Senior Data Analyst’s work is focused on describing, predicting and improving Fund performance. The Senior Data Analyst will bridge data and strategy to tell a straightforward and compelling business story.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop data strategy and build a measurement framework and data architecture.
  • Track, revise and replace (when necessary) Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Interpret the analysis to tell a straightforward and compelling business story and communicate this effectively to a wide audience with varying business interests and skill sets.
  • Manage sophisticated dashboards and large-scale projects.
  • In conjunction with the Executive Director and Associate Director, Strategic Initiatives, develop an annual impact metrics report for CB&LF and ARC.
  • Identify trends and patterns that help CB&LF make better business decisions.
  • Track churches (with a focus on their real estate usage) over time; analyze the data and identify trends, gaps, and focus areas.
  • Review, analyze and manage data analysis of CB&LF archives and loan files.
  • Track and analyze data on participants and projects in CB&LF’s Partner In Vision (PIV) program.
  • Handle and mine large, diverse data sets with an ability to work with both structured and unstructured data.
  • Build innovative and effective approaches to present data analysis for marketing purposes.
 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of knowledge, skills and/or abilities required to perform successfully in this position.

  • Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the field of data analysis.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the United Church of Christ, its history and polity especially its commitment to prophetic ministry in the church and society.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
  • Results oriented, demonstrated ability to achieve the highest levels of personal and organizational performance in order to exceed organizational goals.
  • Customer/client focused, demonstrated ability to understand the perspective of the congregation/customer/client and ability to take actions to integrate their needs.
  • Demonstrated problem analysis/resolution skills; gathers information necessary to make decisions; ability to anticipate, identify, resolve problems in a timely manner; demonstrated awareness of using available resources.
  • Ability to work in diverse racial, ethnic, cultural, and religious settings with a demonstrated commitment to pluralism in the workplace.
  • Ability to develop and maintain healthy relationships with persons representing a wide variety of racial and ethnic realities and perspectives.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal language skills in English including teaching and public speaking.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collegially and collaboratively.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as necessary.

LOCATION: This position is offered with the possibility of deployment. Relocation to Cleveland will not be necessary.
