JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Facility/Athletic Program Manager, responsible for equipment set-up/take down, posting of standings, preparation of scorecards, minor first aid treatment and acting as the representative for the park district during the athletic event.

This job requires some weekend hours

Position Requirements

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Good understanding of the sport you are supervising.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs for a distance of 25 yards.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and use of a vehicle.
  • CPR certified, or the willingness to obtain certification within the first six months of employment.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Ability to establish a positive rapport by using tact and discretion with players.
  • Ability to establish effective communication with players and captain.
  • Ability to work independently and without direct supervision.
  • Ability to work with patrons and staff and exercise good judgment when interacting with people.
  • Ability to recognize safety concerns and provide a safe environment.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare gym/field for play by setting up any necessary equipment for play and preparing score cards for officials. Drag softball fields if necessary, add Turface to wet areas of field to make athletic field playable. Apply field chalk when needed.
  • First two weeks of season; ensure that all league payments are made based on reports provided by the Supervisor.
  • First day/evening of session for each sport, collect completed roster from each athletic team prior to play.
  • Put away all equipment used and collect all scorecards/score sheets from officials for Supervisor.
  • Clean up debris and garbage at conclusion of day in and around surrounding field/area.
  • Remain on site at all times during activity.
  • Post standings weekly at field locations as provided by Supervisor.
  • At ball fields, turn on/off lights when necessary.
  • Attend to the general tidiness and safety of the field/gym and surrounding areas.
  • Provide first aid supplies to participants injured during activity. Complete accident/incident reports in their entirety and submit within 24 hours of the incident.
  • Inform supervisor of daily operational needs problems, and player feedback.
  • Be knowledgeable and remain calm, alert while executing emergency evacuations and severe weather alert procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Adult Athletic Coordinator.
  • Abide by the Bolingbrook Park District dress code for your area
  • Perform all job tasks within the rules and guidelines of the Park District’s safety program.
  • Work as a team player with co-workers and in conjunction with other departments

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Talking/Hearing: To effectively communicate with participants

Seeing: To obtain information from written material and driving

Driving: To drive tractor for dragging field and drive vehicle as required

Walking: To set up in various areas of field/gym

Crouching: To install bases and pitching mound

Pushing/Pulling: To set up field/gym and raking field

Sitting: To drive tractor to drag field

Lifting: To set up equipment and apply field chalk or reface

COGNITIVE CONSIDERATION

Must have ability to read, write and organize materials. Must be able to relate to other people in a professional manner.

This is a part time hourly, non-exempt position

HOURS

Hours will be set by the Facility Program Manager. Hours will include nights and weekend but not to exceed 28 hours per week.
