Description

GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Web and Digital Specialist will be tasked with responding to customer requests for web and digital updates and making changes to ucc.org and related web and digital properties of the United Church of Christ. Primary customer support specialist for UCC Everywhere, the digital marketing program designed to help churches with their digital offerings. 

Work across the OPTIC department to participate in the work of philanthropy, technology, identity, and communications of all kinds.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supports the Web & Digital Strategist of OPTIC in building a web, digital, and technological infrastructure.
  • Works within the OPTIC team to execute on the strategic priorities as established by OPTIC leadership. Contribute to team goals.
  • Provides full professional website support, responds to change requests, and assists internal and some external stakeholders with web and digital requests.
  • Works with the Web and Digital Strategist and the OPTIC Team to maintain quality web and digital assets that are built to customers’ and the organization’s standards.
  • Take a key role in developing UCC Everywhere websites to ensure excellent user experiences; optimizing website performance for excellent digital marketing results; optimizing website performance for seamless delivery of multiple content types (video, etc.)
  • Strong phone and email contact handling skills and active listening.
  • Customer orientation and ability to adapt/respond to UCC Everywhere customer inquiries.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to help promote and support the UCC Everywhere program.
  • Take a leading role in managing customer ongoing support service requests from UCC Everywhere clients.
  • Executes on day-to-day content updates and maintenance needs of the website, ensuring all content, images, forms, and web pages look and work properly.
  • Establishes healthy lines of communication with OPTIC team members and external teams working on web & digital assets, including UCC Everywhere.
  • Embraces a solid understanding of the organizational goals and priorities and the capabilities of our technology, software, hardware, content management systems, and web servers to accomplish those goals.
 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required to perform successfully in this position.

  • At least 2-4 years’ experience working in the digital industry covering brand, digital, and web experience with digital communications platforms in a professional context, including content management systems (CMS) and constituent communications providers.
  • Experience maintaining and creating website content in various mediums (text, images, video, multimedia).
  • A working knowledge of HTML, CSS, content/graphic asset creation, and implementation/content publishing.
  • Abilities in managing information and the transfer of data into appropriate web language.
  • Problem-solver with excellent communications skills; responsive and dependable
  • Understanding of analytics.
  • Creative, willing to learn, and is flexible.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and take direction.
  • Desire and sensitivity to work in diverse racial, ethnic, cultural and religious settings with commitment to pluralism in the workplace as well as in one’s understanding of mission.
  • Competency in web policy and digital workflow procedures.
  • An understanding of the polity and structure of the United Church of Christ.
  • Ability and willingness to travel, at times, for an extended number of days, occasionally internationally.

This position may deployed.  Relocation to Cleveland, Ohio is not necessary.
