Description

Purpose of Position:  
Carpenter skilled in rough and finish carpentry at a journeyman-level in the areas of construction, repair, alteration and maintenance of historic buildings, warehouses, shops, museum exhibits and employee office buildings located on the Museum's grounds which cover 19 acres on the Mystic River in Mystic, CT.  The Museum includes a recreated New England coastal village, a working shipyard, formal exhibit halls, and state-of-the-art artifact storage facilities.  

Essential Functions:  

  • Performs rough and general finish carpentry
  • Performs restoration of historical structures
  • Operates various hand tools, power tools, and equipment used to complete carpentry duties.
  • Install wood and asphalt roofing, siding, tile, flooring, ceilings, and other architectural systems etc.
  • Capable of completing drywall repairs
  • Performs staining, sealing, painting, and application of other coating systems
  • Installation or replacement of doors and windows
  • Assemble, erect, and dismantle scaffolding
  • Supervise a team of 1 – 3 employees as needed for projects assigned
  • Performs other tasks as assigned
 
Position Requirements
  • Must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccination and booster by date of hire to be considered. Proof of vaccination will be required.
  • Five (5) years of journeyman-level experience in rough and finish carpentry work
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license
  • Must be capable of performing job descriptions skills
  • Must be capable of working on ladders and roofs
  • Must be able to lift 75 lbs.
