Job Summary:

Seeking a highly customer service-oriented Manager, Facilities. The ideal candidate must understand systems equipment (HVAC, plumbing, generators, electric, fire systems, machinery handling equipment) and be familiar with managing and coordinating with external service providers and working with various maintenance systems. This position will report directly to the Director, Facilities and will oversee the work of the Facilities team to manage and maintain three Academy facilities to the highest standards. We are currently hiring day and swing shifts; precise work times are TBD. Must be willing to work outside of normal business hours including weekends, late nights, and holidays.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, coordinate, inspect, supervise, and evaluate the work of Engineering, Maintenance, Custodial, and vendors in the upkeep of multiple facilities.
  • Support management team with development and implementation of standard operating procedures for the facilities.
  • Source and use vendors that perform quality and cost-effective work and services.
  • Assist with recruiting, selecting, hiring, and training of Maintenance team members.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety, environmental and risk management policies and procedures.
  • Assist with maintenance and custodial tasks when needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Willing to work overtime, weekends, and a flexible schedule, when required e.g. during emergencies.

 

 
Position Requirements

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in Facilities Management with management/technical emphasis.
  • Have 5+ years of leadership experience and comfortable managing long term planning, budget estimation, execution, follow up, forecasting and reporting.
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems is strongly preferred.
  • Experience or strong familiarity with all or some the following areas: basic carpentry, HVAC functionality, irrigation, janitorial, and/or plumbing is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to manage staff and provide hands-on instruction and training in a variety of maintenance and custodial tasks.
  • Strong customer service orientation and able to communicate effectively with staff, visitors, vendors, and contractors.
  • Ability to follow through on commitments, projects, and demonstrate a can-do attitude.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and stay organized in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
  • Knowledge of safety work practices and codes including Cal-OSHA requirements.
  • Knowledge of materials, tools, equipment, and methods used in the cleaning and maintenance of a public facility.
  • Ability to logically analyze and solve problems in a timely manner to reduce critical impact to the facility.
  • Available to work a flexible schedule in support of special events and in case of emergency.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is highly preferred.
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office suite and electronic workorder and inventory management system.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to repeatedly lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds and kneel/bend/stoop/squat for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in fluctuating temperatures. Ability to work under adverse situations and conditions, e.g., dirty, noisy, etc.
  • Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and heights.

The expected starting salary range for this role is $80,000. The actual base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and other factors permitted by law. Decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis.
