Description

Lead Application Analyst

Will develop, enhance and support all clinical and business systems for Stony Brook Administrative Services and Stony Brook Community Medical. The incumbent may be assigned to a project team as part of the technical build resource and/or support any production systems to ensure the availability of applications. Will develop a thorough understanding of all of the applications used, and be the main technical contact for all new projects as well as working alongside the PM team.

  • Keep management informed of project status
  • Participate in new projects when appropriate
  • Maintain stability and reliability of all systems
  • Adhere to coding guidelines and standards of Information technology
  • Adhere to customer services standards
  • Work with Team to ensure the addition of new applications are technically sound
  • Review, analyze and implement change/enhancement requests to production applications
  • Investigate and help resolve application problems
  • Assist in testing system functionality as well as validating application
  • Provide on call/recall support
  • Participate in Cerner application upgrades and implementations- for example UCern and flash updates SPM/ EMR community network
  • Provide reporting when necessary- PCMH, CAR reporting- Cerner advanced reporting
  • Document all work according to standards
  • Debug system problems
  • Participate in system design sessions
  • Review Flashes, updates and assist with training manuals in partnership with the training team
  • Work with and monitor 3rd party IT support company, Flexible
  • Proven adeptness at handling different tasks with different priorities simultaneously
  • Act as interface between application vendors and IT Infrastructure to ensure proper sizing of environment(s) and to troubleshoot/resolve problems.
  • Plans, implements and monitors hardware and software upgrades, patches, security and backup/recovery processes; obtains new and upgraded system hardware and software from vendors. 
  • Utilizes appropriate tools to install and test upgrades and patches; develops automated scripts where appropriate to ensure that new and upgraded systems work effectively with current systems and programs.
  • Determines and documents proper installation parameters for software and hardware in order to ensure smooth integration, transition and efficiency
  • Provides professional customer support and expert level solution management for system-related software and hardware; interacts with vendors and customers to analyze changes in business requirements that may impact system function; recommends technology solutions to improve business operations. 
  • Installs, configures, customizes and administers a variety of commercial, off-the-shelf applications; may write programs/scripts and develop reports using standard application development products and tools
  • Monitors the performance and capacity of information system components; uses performance monitoring and capacity planning tools to ensure that assigned systems and applications are performing effectively; monitors the capacity of cloud and local storage.

Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years’ business analyst or similar experience in supporting/implementing EMR, culling technical requirements for applications/systems, and Practice management applications in the Healthcare environment.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Experience interfacing clinical medical systems and devices.
  • Knowledge of HL7 interfaces and standards. Understand workflows, analyze vendor source and destination specs/requirements/data elements for implementing interfaces.
  • Experience designing and implementing secure file transfer processes (sFTP).  
  • He or She must decide when to escalate issues to management in order to provide adequate support.
  • This individual will interact with all levels of staff at SBCM, SBAS, the hospital/HSC as well

 

In accordance with the New York State Department of Health (DOH) order that all hospitals and nursing homes “continuously require all covered personnel to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.”  Upon receipt of a conditional job offer, candidates who are not already vaccinated must obtain the first dose of the vaccine within three (3) calendar days of job offer and must obtain any subsequent doses in accordance with the vaccine protocol.
