SUMMARY:
Provides support and direction in the implementation and administration of quality systems. Primary emphasis is providing oversight, support, and direction in Supplier Quality Management Systems for the items procured for use in the manufacturing of electronic assemblies and systems for Military, Aerospace and Commercial Avionic applications by performing the following duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Develop and mature a supplier quality program to help manage the 1,000+ suppliers
Provide oversight, support, and direction in Supplier Quality Management Systems for the items procured for use in the manufacturing of electronic assemblies and systems for Military, Aerospace and Commercial Avionic applications.
Partner with Supplier Chain to develop an approach to strategically down-select suppliers by commodity.
Develop and maintain a surveillance methodology to ensure the supplier quality management systems meet all standards and requirements (AS9100, ISO-9001-2000, FAA Part 21, etc.).
Perform external supplier audits, surveys and source inspections to assure compliance to specified quality requirements.
Develop and implement corrective action plans when suppliers are not meeting quality or schedule expectations.
Strategically lead supplier performance improvement projects in an effort to increase the supplier capability of consistently meeting Extant Aerospace requirements. Projects may include: process analysis, value stream mapping, process capability and throughput analysis.
Achieves quality assurance operational objectives by contributing information and analysis to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans.
Works closely with Quality Engineering, Purchasing, Program Management, Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing, and Inspection personnel on manufacturing yield issues related to Supplier Quality requirements compliance.
Quality Engineering oversight of suppliers as it relates to the development and maintenance of procedures, new product introduction, quality plans, inspection plans, quality performance trends, statistical plans, and AS9102 First Article requirements.
Attain and maintain current knowledge of state-of-the-art engineering techniques, procedures, instruments, and equipment.
Participate in the Material Review Board activities, failure analysis, and corrective/preventive action investigations.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPEREINCE: Bachelor’s Degree, prefer advanced degree plus a minimum of 15+ years of a combined quality, manufacturing, or project engineering experience with both a broad and strong knowledge-base in a variety of manufacturing capabilities & techniques to include the following:
Background experience in counterfeit electronic avoidance, detection, mitigation and disposition program IAW SAE AS5553 and IDEA-STD -1010 is a plus.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: The individual must be capable of preparing and presenting detailed reports and procedures to management, vendors and customers, thus a high level of competence in both written and spoken English is required.
COMPUTER SKILLS: The individual shall be proficient with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint. The individual should also possess a strong understanding of computer operations and operating systems.
