Klallam Counseling Services

Wellness Project Coordinator

Funding for this position is grant/contract dependent

OVERVIEW: The KCS Wellness Project Coordinator is tasked with overseeing and coordinating grant funds while supporting the recovery efforts of KCS clients. KCS provides a holistic treatment model for substance use disorder in a team environment.

LOCATION: Klallam Counseling Services

SUPERVISED BY: Treatment Program Manager

POSITION STATUS: Regular full-time non-exempt. This position includes medical, dental, life insurance, retirement, annual/sick leave benefits

SALARY LEVEL: $26-31/hour depending on experience

WORK SCHEDULE: Business hours are Monday - Thursday 8:00 am - 6:00 pm and Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. The work schedule for this position may vary depending on agency needs. Must have the ability to work daytime, evenings, and weekends as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF JOB:

  • Complete projects requiring coordination with managers, supervisors, and staff to include development of policies and procedures, assist with new programs and initiatives, conduct research and special projects including opioid prevention and treatment approaches.
  • Provide oversight and coordination of opioid misuse prevention and treatment contracts and grants.
  • Create and follow budgets related to contract and grant funds.
  • Negotiates and updates contracts and budgets as necessary.
  • Maintain a comprehensive awareness and knowledge of traditional practices, traditional foods, plant medicines and wellness models.
  • Engage in community outreach to help promote health, wellness, and substance use disorder treatment services.
  • Identifies partnership and funding opportunities and promotes relationship-building with other organizations, agencies and stakeholders.
  • Develops presentations and other materials for use during program related events and meetings.
  • Attend meetings representing the Tribe and KCS at a local, state, and national level.
  • Coordinate social marketing programs focused on health and wellness promotion including online and print communications with special focus on opioid misuse, prevention and treatment.
  • Coordinate wellness promotion classes, teaching within own specialty areas
  • Run agency related errands as required.
  • Other duties as assigned that are relevant to the successful operation of the agency.
 
Position Requirements

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have two years of health-related or complementary-care level experience.
  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalency.
  • Previous grant-writing or grant management experience preferred.
  • Ability to interface well with all departments of the Tribe and represent KCS and LEKT in a highly professional manner.
  • Familiarity with traditional foods, plant medicines, and practices.
  • Cultural sensitivity and ability to work respectfully with a broad spectrum of people and organizations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and the ability to model the expectations of confidentiality.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Includes: good spelling, grammar, editing, and proofing skills.
  • Excellent computer skills including familiarity with utilizing social media.
  • Able to comply with the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe Drug Free Workplace policies, must pass a UA prior to employment.
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to work independently and to multitask.
  • Must possess an unrestricted, valid driver’s license and be able to drive KCS transport vans. Must not have an SR-22 requirement.
  • Knowledge of substance use disorder treatment and the effect of substance use disorder on individuals, families and communities.
  • Knowledge and adherence to ethics and professional boundaries including an absolute adherence to confidentiality.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Good personal hygiene and grooming.
  • Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check and UA drug screening test.
  • Must provide proof of Covid vaccination.
  • If past substance abuse exists, must have personal commitment to his/her own recovery and have maintained that recovery for a minimum of two consecutive years.
  • If past client of agency, must not have been a current client in the past year.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Stamina to work 40 hours per week primarily in an office setting
  • Ability to reach and squat for filing purposes.
  • Walking and standing; sitting down, driving for long periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry light loads of approximately 25 pounds.
  • Requires use of standard office equipment, including computer, phone, fax, and photocopier.

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:

This person must be of the conviction that alcoholism and other drug addiction are treatable illnesses and public health problems.
