Essential Functions of the Job

  • Work with the HR Manager and Generalist in the support and administration of Payroll and HR functions
  • Maintain time card system, addressing questions from associates, making adjustments as needed
  • Execute bi-weekly payroll adjustments including but not limited to: Time card review, enter adjustments (contribution, tax and direct deposit changes), commissions, mileage reimbursement, misc. earnings and deductions, etc.
  • With oversight of the HR Manager, prepare payroll using Paychex Flex, generate payroll reports, and maintain payroll records
  • Address issues and questions regarding payroll/HR from employees and superiors
  • Prepare ad hoc reports upon request
  • Play a critical role in the implementation of a new HRIS in 2022
  • Create new hire files, pull termination files for storage, and general filing
  • Assist in the payroll performance review paperwork process, ensuring that reviews and pay changes flow from the approving manager, to the President, and are then entered into HRIS
  • Assist with annual open enrollment efforts, new hire package preparation, and more
  • Participate in periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately
  • Field frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, payroll, etc. and refer complex questions to the Generalist or HR Manager
  • Process termination paperwork
  • Assist with implementing and maintaining the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) according to established processes and procedures in a timely manner
  • Assist with future projects such as (but not limited to) revising our employee handbook; revising and creating policies; updating employee job descriptions, etc.
  • Serve as point-person for our captive insurance general liability, property and auto insurance claims
  • Provide high quality customer service internal and external customer service per company standards
  • Coordinate supply orders with our administrative assistant
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Trustworthy, with the ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Excellent communication and organization skills, with attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively give and receive feedback in a professional and respectful manner that sets an example to others
  • Possess an understanding of payroll, with 1-2 years of payroll processing experience
  • Knowledge of HR best practices is desirable
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of Paychex and HRIS systems is helpful
  • High school diploma or equivalent
