Your Role at MOBE

This is an exciting time at MOBE and we are growing fast. At MOBE, we have a lot of data: eligibility, medical and pharmacy claims, marketing campaign impressions, transcripts from participant interactions, etc.

This position is responsible for providing technical and project expertise to enable MOBE analytics and operations with structured and unstructured data. Responsibilities includes executing and/or leading user story development, data design and architecture, data pipeline development, testing and deployment in the Analytic Data Framework. This role will partner with internal and external business and technology teams to drive project deliverables and ensure high quality delivery of data architecture and integration.

Responsibilities

The Data Engineer ensures the following capabilities and functions:

  • Translate high level business processes into logical data processing steps
  • Design data structures and pipelines that are flexible and scalable for MOBE analytics and operational requirements
  • Support Analytic partners through collaborative and transparent development, information delivery, problem resolution, shared insights, and training
  • Data processing definition, execution, and documentation, in a time appropriate way, to meet business priorities and requirements
  • Data quality and maintenance consistent within the Analytic Data Framework
  • Lead small to moderate sized projects and initiatives, following through on execution of chosen strategies and demonstrating the ability to work through obstacles and changing priorities.
  • Demonstrate ability and willingness to play multiple roles for different projects (e.g. planning/architecture, project development, hands-on technical resource/support for others, analysis and resolution of data issues)
  • Identify and constructively communicate the need for improvements or enhancements in MOBE technology assets
  • All other duties as assigned to help fulfill our Mission and abide by MOBE's Guiding Principles
 
Position Requirements

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Applied Mathematics preferred
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience
  • Hands-on experience developing moderately complex data integration solutions using data management software tools
  • Highly proficient with SQL
  • An understanding of Software Engineering best practices and defensive coding practices
  • Experience working with and setting up code repositories, versioning, and continuous integration/continuous deployment environments
  • Demonstrates strong problem-solving skills and analytic thinking with experience in data analysis and user story development.
  • Knowledge of data management best practices, development standards and methodologies
  • Demonstrate oral/written communication and presentation skills to effectively communicate moderately complex technical information to business users and management
  • Ability and eagerness to learn new tools and applications
  • Self-starter able to work independently on defined tasks and priorities, seek out guidance/assistance when issues arise, or objectives require clarification

Preferred

  • Experience working with healthcare insurance data, specifically eligibility and claims (medical and pharmacy and/or Call Center data)
  • Prior experience with writing, managing, and automating data pipelines
  • Prior experience using data warehouse methodologies, specifically Data Vault 2.0 / dimensional modeling
  • Proficient with Python and experience with supporting tools/frameworks to manage and deploy (e.g. pandas, docker)
  • Experience with quality automation processes, frameworks, and technologies/tools
  • Experience managing orchestration of data workflows and dependencies across multiple teams and technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a Linux environment and programming IDEs (VSCode, IntelliJ, PyCharm, etc.)
  • Practical and relevant experience with one or more Cloud databases and big data technical tools: AWS RedShift, Azure, Snowflake, WhereScape, Talend, DBT, Airflow or other data warehouse/ pipeline automation frameworks
  • Execution experience with Agile/Scrum project methodology
  • Working knowledge of AWS environment including shell scripting and scheduler tools
  • Experience with other RDBMS platforms (SQL Server, Postgres, MySql, ….)
