Since 1971, Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board has provided a comprehensive continuum of high-quality, essential, and community-based services to citizens of the Peninsula who are affected by mental illness, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders.
H-NNCSB partners with both Hampton and Newport News General District Courts as part of separate dockets. BHDs are non-adversarial approaches by the judicial system, treatment providers, and other stakeholders addressing the needs of individuals with serious mental illness who have become involved in the criminal justice system. Through on-going support and supervision, the Court and Team assist individuals as they engage in services and address challenges to prevent further penetration within the criminal justice system.
The Behavioral Health Docket Case Manager ensures continuity of directly provided and contractual services to agency's participants with Serious Mental Illness (SMI) and Serious and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI) populations referred to and enrolled in the Behavioral Health Docket. Case Managers assist clients with their basic physical, financial, social and personal needs. Case management services for the client include outreach, psychological and need assessments, treatment planning and service provider linkage, monitoring, advocacy, counseling and crisis intervention, daily living support, medication supervision, and similar functions.
