Work Schedule: Saturday - Wednesday 4p - 12:30a

Since 1971, Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board has provided a comprehensive continuum of high-quality, essential, and community-based services to citizens of the Peninsula who are affected by mental illness, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders.

An 11-bed residential crisis stabilization/ambulatory detox program offering an alternative to or diversion from an acute inpatient psychiatric hospitalization. The multidisciplinary approach offers rapid access for brief intervention through psychiatry, nursing, therapy, psychoeducation, peer recovery supports, a structured milieu and comprehensive care coordination.

Performs a variety of functions in support of the seriously mentally ill, substance use disorders or emotionally impaired individual toward maintaining community placement, substance use disorders recovery, including independent living skills training, needs assessments, advocacy, crisis intervention, recreational and leisure activities training and supportive counseling in a mental health residential setting. Monitors and documents individuals progress.

Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Human Services (Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling) and at least one (1) year experience providing behavioral health services to adults with serious mental illness or emotionally impaired. Must be registered with the Board of Counseling to practice as a QMHP-A or must register as a QMHP-Trainee within the first 30 days of employment.

The selected candidate must successfully pass a criminal history fingerprint background investigation, DMV record check, Child Registry search, drug screening test and employment reference checks.
