POSITION SUMMARY:

This PRN position is responsible for assisting in the diagnosis and treatment of certain cardiac diseases.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Administers radiopharmaceuticals (radioactive drugs) to patients and monitoring the concentration levels in the patient’s body while complying with Cardiac Solutions protocol and IAC standards for nuclear medicine testing.

  • Explains the procedure and effectively answers patient questions.

  • Will start and place IV’s effectively.

  • Orders, receives, disposes and injects radiopharmaceuticals.

  • Administers Dipyridamole and Aminophylline under the direction of a physician.

  • Actively demonstrate a working knowledge of nuclear medicine to provide the best patient care.

  • Monitors cardiac stress procedures.

  • Positions patients and operates gamma camera for patient imaging.

  • Operates non-imaging equipment (dose calibrator, Geiger survey, Scintillation probe).

  • Enters findings into Centricity and notifies the physician of positive results.

  • Maintains accurate patient records and ensures charges are correct.

  • Follows ICANL standards of practice.

  • Travels to all offices as needed.

 
Position Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, radiation physics and radiographic equipment.

  • Knowledge of Radiation Safety

  • Skill in performing nuclear testing

  • Skill in utilizing time management

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Ability work independently

  • Ability to communicate effectively (both oral and written)

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of one (1) year experience performing nuclear scans in a hospital or medical office environment.

  • Completion of an accredited Nuclear Medicine program

  • Current registration (ARRT, NMTCB)

  • Current BLS certification
