Upper School Science Teacher
High School includes grades nine through twelve. This position may include teaching a combination of science classes/subjects. Candidates must display a deep knowledge of Science and Scripture and how it applies to student's lives. We are seeking an individual who is passionate about Christian education and is called to work with youth, desiring them to grow in their understanding of the sciences with a biblical perspective. Beyond preparing science lessons and grading assignments, this teacher will also take on routine responsibilities common to all SCA teaching staff. Our teachers are responsible for fulfilling the mission of Scottsdale Christian by equipping minds through engaging, innovative instruction and nurturing hearts by mentoring young people as a spiritual leader and role model. This individual must be adept at technology. This teacher will report directly to the High School Principal.
Requirements
The candidate must be a professing and maturing Christian enthusiastically supporting SCA's statement of faith, and mission statement. Training in Science methodology and best practices in teaching are required. A Bachelor's Degree in the Physical Sciences, Education or a related field from an accredited college is required. Master's Degree is preferred. Candidates should possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to develop authentic relationships with young adults, and to demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement. In addition, the position requires the ability to organize and prioritize work, resolve problems, follow through, and manage multiple priorities to ensure that goals are met. Strong technology skills are required. This person must actively participate in weekly devotions, lead mission trips, disciple students and lead small groups to help us achieve our mission. Science is not a philosophy of naturalism that rejects the God of Creation, but simply an attempt to understand the workings of the world that we see around us. Thus, the science department at SCA works to recognize the hand of the Creator in His Creation. 2 Peter 3:3-7 Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. They will say, 'Where is this ‘coming' he promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.' But they deliberately forget that long ago by God's word the heavens came into being and the earth was formed out of water and by water. By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly. Romans 1:20-23 For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles. Science teachers are at the core of helping students maximize their God-given potential to live lives of distinction for Jesus Christ.
