** Sign-on Bonus $1,000 **

Annual Salary: $28,163

Work Schedule:  Monday - Friday 8a - 4:30p 

Join our team and make a difference in your community.  The employees at the Hampton – Newport News Community Services Board provide comprehensive continuum of high-quality, essential, and community-based services to citizens of the Peninsula who are affected by mental illness, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders.  

The South-Eastern Family Project (SEFP) is a comprehensive residential program for pregnant women who are addicted to alcohol and/or other drugs. Gender specific substance abuse treatment services are provided in a healthy, stable, and secure residential environment where women and their newborns can remain together throughout the treatment stay.

As a Peer Recovery Specialist you will interact and assist others in becoming ready and willing to seek treatment. You will help guide them down the path to wellness.  Peer Recovery Specialist are individuals that have lived experience of a mental illness, substance use disorder or co-occurring disorders, who have made the journey from illness to wellness.   The Peer Recovery Specialist is not a sponsor or a therapist, but rather a role model, mentor, advocate and motivator.

Requirements:  Must be a person who has experienced a mental health and/or substance use condition and who has a minimum of 12 months of successful recovery to include making progress in learning about and managing his or her condition and in developing a life outside of, or in addition to, this condition.  

Valid Driver's License. 

The selected candidate must successfully pass a criminal history fingerprint background investigation, DMV record check, Child Registry search, drug screening test and employment reference checks.

*Current CSB employees are not eligible for the sign-on bonus*
