Since 1971, Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board has provided a comprehensive continuum of high-quality, essential, and community-based services to citizens of the Peninsula who are affected by mental illness, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders.
SEFP is licensed both as a 3.5 & 3.1 comprehensive residential program for pregnant and postpartum women diagnosed with a substance use disorder. Gender specific substance use treatment services are provided in a healthy, stable and secure residential environment. The program is designed to serve residents based on individual need in a person-centered treatment environment which encourages stabilization. A holistic approach to prevention, intervention, support and treatment is provided to foster the physical, emotional and spiritual well-being for the women and families.
Designs, coordinates and delivers nursing care to the intrapartum and antepartum women and families in the Southeastern Family Project Residential Facility. This includes the OB/GYN assessment of individual health, analyzing data to determine medical and nursing care as needed, planning a treatment strategy to meet identified needs, and evaluating responses to nursing and medical interventions. This position emphasizes perinatal practice and includes the care of the well newborn and postpartum care of routine and cesearean births. Provides oversight for facility medication management. Provides supportive counseling and direct client education on a variety of health topics. This position may also provide RN support to other programs as needed.
Requirements: Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing with a diploma in nursing and/or an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in nursing. OB/MH/SA experience preferred. Registered Nurse with the Virginia Board of Nursing. Valid Drivers Licenses.
The selected candidate must successfully pass a criminal history fingerprint background investigation, DMV record check, Child Registry search, drug screening test and employment reference checks.
