Assistant Director, Instructional Services 

Description

Provide support and assistance to the Instructional Services Division Director to develop, coordinate, and direct district-wide instruction and programs in accordance with the District Strategic Plan and Core Values, school policy and procedures, and state laws and regulations. Work in conjunction with the Instructional Services team and campus administrators to provide leadership and support for program development, curriculum development, and instructional delivery to optimize instructional effectiveness including student recruitment, retention and placement, employee performance, facility utilization, and community relations.

Essential Functions

  1. Work with the Director of Instructional Services in directing the development and delivery of quality professional development as it relates to the teacher and leader evaluation models used to inform instruction, create professional development opportunities, and promote continuous improvement.
  2. Develop instructional professional development activities and training needs; which align with the district’s strategic plan, ensuring that the investment in development resources targets the competencies and capabilities required by the District so professional development opportunities are maximized and individual instructor performance is elevated.
  3. Work in conjunction with the Instructional Services Director and campus administration to manage instruction, maximize productivity, efficiency, and the potential of the human assets of Tulsa Tech, including: direct job assignment, monitoring staff performance, coaching, counseling, training, assuring compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational mission, values, policies and work rules.
  4. Provide support of instructional leadership and support of full-time programs assuring that the highest quality of classroom instruction is maintained with smooth operation of day-to-day instruction.
  5. Assist Directors in providing direction to all career clusters and programs in the specific areas of development, review, program evaluations, accreditation and marketing.
  6. Support the delivery of all full-time day and evening course deliveries as well as recommend and implement new career programs and course offerings, pilot projects and special initiatives.
  7. Participate in the coordination and content preparation of class schedules, course catalogues, and web-based information.
  8. Assist campus administration with interviewing processes and skills to identify and hire full- time instructional staff, that possess the requisite experience, competencies and cultural match to maintain the highest levels of customer service and instructional excellence and ability to achieve the strategic and tactical objectives of the campus and district.
  9. Perform tasks and duties relevant to any of various roles or responsibilities assigned by supervision and determined by management to be appropriate for this position; comply with all policy, procedure, regulation and other communicated requirements as may be in effect for the workgroup or worksite.
  10. Customarily and regularly manage direct reports assuring compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational mission, values, policies and work rules. Appraise performance and provide recommendations for staff compensation, promotion and termination actions, and hiring as appropriate.
 
Position Requirements
  • This position requires three (3) years’ experience working in instructional leadership in career tech or at a comprehensive high school with career tech programs.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ supervising instructional programs and/or staff.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience providing professional development to administrative and instructional staff.
  • Certification as Secondary Principal Required
  • Must have or be able to obtain (within the first year in the position) ODCTE Administrator Certificate.   • OK Drivers License

Hiring Range Dependent on experience and education, plus additional $7,200 annual compensation for salary-in-lieu of dependent benefit coverage.
