JOB SUMMARY:
As a member of a team, the Family Support Specialist/Program Coordinator provides leadership and management skills to the Intensive Family Support Services (IFSS) program. In addition to the responsibilities of the Family Support Specialist, the Program Coordinator maintains oversight of IFSS, promotes the services to other providers, and collaborates with other managers within Catholic Charities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides Leadership:
a. Supervises, develops, and evaluates IFSS staff
b. Coordinates, encourages, and provides training for IFSS staff
c. Develops and manages contract requirements to Division of Mental Health Services (DMHS)
d. Manages all reporting requirements
e. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates all current and newly developed services provided by IFSS
f. Provides consultation and information to community mental health agencies about IFSS, and coordinates with those agencies to serve the families of their clients
g. Collaborates with other Catholic Charities supervisors and managers
h. Provides representation as appropriate on behalf of the agency and IFSS in the community
i. Participates in the IFSS and agency Quality Management process
j. Coordinates with NAMI-FACE of Burlington County to broaden the scope of the support and self-help groups, and refer families to the NAMI Family to Family Education program
k. Collaborates with the IFSS Advisory Committee
2. Provides Single Family Consultations
a. Establishes and maintains on-going relationships with families of diverse backgrounds
b. Conducts a family assessment including a “Family Concerns Survey”
c. Develops and implements a consultation agreement with each family
d. Visits families at a frequency consistent with their assessed level of concern
e. Provides supportive counseling and skills coaching in the areas of communication, advocacy, and problem solving
f. Provides direct assistance in resource acquisition
g. Works some evenings
3. Facilitates Coping Skills Groups
a. Conducts group sessions and insures mutual exchange of information to empower families in the recovery process
4. Facilitates Psycheducation Lecture Series
a. Plans, develops, and presents educational lecture series to meet family needs
5. Facilitates Respite Care Services
a. Where appropriate, provides for non-emergency respite services with the ill family member either in or out of the home
b. Where appropriate, coordinates with appropriate programs to facilitate overnight respite services for the ill family member
6. Promotes Advocacy
a. Advocates on behalf of families when needed services are denied or delayed
b. Identifies new services, resource gaps, and/or problems of service delivery
c. Directs families to NAMI and other family self-help organizations
d. Attends NAMI support groups
7. Documents Service Delivery
a. Logs contacts and progress made towards goals identified in the consultation agreement
b. Completes all assessment, survey, and follow-up documentation as required
c. Submits an accurate daily activity log with 48 hours
8. Continues Education
a. Attends IFSS/NAMI training and other appropriate training to enhance knowledge and skill sets
b. Expands knowledge of available community resources and services
9. Maintains Ethical Standards and Code of Conduct
a. Displays commitment to the Mission Statement of Catholic Charities and the philosophy of IFSS
b. Adheres to codes of conduct governing family/family and therapist relationship as established through Catholic Charities, the National Association of Social Workers, the American Psychological Association, the National Association of Marriage and Family Counselors, or other applicable codes of conduct
