JOB SUMMARY: 1. Conducts well women gynecological examinations to screen for potential health issues. 2. Assess, evaluate and treat Well women issues throughout life span which could include but not limited to Clinical Breast exams, pap smears, contraceptive counseling, and pre-pregnancy counseling. Education including hormone replacement, STD infections and IUD removal. 3. Consults with Medical Director to determine appropriate follow up when needed. 4. Educates patients on women's health issues and awareness.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Provides clinical examinations including pelvic exams and pap smears. 2. Educates patients appropriately to relevant health risks, disease prevention and health promotion activities. 3. Performs administrative tasks as required.

EXPECTED BEHAVIORS: 1. Obtains relevant health history and comprehensive physical examination, preventative health screening and identification of health risk factors. Evaluates assessment data and establishes diagnoses. Differentiates patient care situations which require immediate action and responds accordingly. 2. Orders and evaluates results for relevant diagnostic studies including imaging and laboratory procedures. 3. Ensures appropriate follow up is communicated. 4. Records and documents according to appropriate standards of care and hospital policy and procedure. Educates patient and family members to promote healing and wellness, prevent future health problems, maintain or improve current health and intervene in acute/chronic illness. 5. Facilitates and implements systems to promote and maintain effective communication and collaboration with inter/intra hospital physicians and others on the health care team as well as patients and families. 6. Maintains appropriate records and documentation of clinical educational activities. 7. Collaborates with physicians and Director in development of clinical protocols for delivery of care. 8. Demonstrates ability to work effectively with patients, family member and with professional and support personnel. 9. Recognizes and uses appropriate channels to communicate patient dissatisfaction. 10 Collaborates with other department nurse practitioners to provide department with adequate provider coverage. 11. Participates in projects as requested by Director.

 
Position Requirements

MANDATORY LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:

The following licenses/certifications are required:

CPR (Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation)

Certification/license: Nurse Practitioner (NP); Registered Nurse (RN)

Additional licensure/credential requirements: Certification as Nurse Practitioner required.

ADDITIONAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: One year as Nurse Practitioner desired. Experience in women's health required. Prescriptive authority required. Mandatory Annual Continuing Education: Customer Service, Fire and Safety, Confidentiality-HIPAA, Infection Control, Corporate Compliance. Annual Unit Specific Competencies, and all education required by regulatory, accreditation bodies and/or Hancock Regional Hospital.
