Position Summary:

As the Assistant Banquet Operations Manager at Edgewood Tahoe, you are responsible for leading the banquet staff and assisting the Catering Operations Manager with all aspects of the Banquet Department functions, including the successful set-up, execution and service of all events, and in accordance with Edgewood Tahoe standards. Reporting to the Catering Operations Manager, the Assistant Banquet Operations Manager will assist and oversee the day-to-day operation, planning and long-term outlook of all event activities held on property, as well as directs, implement and maintains a service and management philosophy which serves as a guide to respective staff to ensure 100% guest satisfaction. Essential Functions:

  • Provide leadership and support for the banquet and set-up/convention services team
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards
  • Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment
  • Resolve guest complaints and ensuring guest satisfaction
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas
  • Maintain complete knowledge of service requirements for each scheduled function
  • Maintain complete knowledge of strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons and drunk driving
  • Adhere to par levels for supplies and equipment and complete requisitions to replenish shortages or additional items needed for the anticipated business
  • Maintain linens required for business
  • Retrieve and organize Banquet Event Orders (BEO's) according to departmental standards Make note of changes as received from Catering and post function sheets
  • Conduct pre-event meeting with servers and porters and review all information pertinent to set-up and service of group
  • Conducts consistent and scheduled department meetings with banquet captains and associates
  • Write banquet and set up staff schedule and review and submit daily/weekly payroll and tip distribution records correctly
  • Attend scheduled BEO, Resume and Operations Meeting and other meetings as required
  • Other duties as assigned. Responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice
  • Manage all storage and service spaces to ensure organization, PAR’s and cleanliness.

 

 
Position Requirements

Qualifications / Special Skills:

  • Minimum two years of experience in Food and Beverage Management or Supervisor position
  • Banquet management or supervisor background and asset
  • Ability to prepare, organize, and report data on and generated by computer and sales system
  • Must have strong working knowledge of hotel operations & various departments; experience in the luxury hotel setting strongly preferred
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Window applications required
  • Reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language is required.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
  • Highly responsible and reliable
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment with strong multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
  • Must be able to walk/stand for extended periods of time; must be able to lift up to 40 lbs occasionally
  • Available to work varied shifts when needed, including weekends, holidays, and nights
