Description

The Waste/Recycling Profiling Specialist will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the inbound and outbound waste/recycling profiles for all assigned facilities. The selected candidate will be a member of the EHS team and will be expected to lead by example, following all Corporate EHS policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Review and approve submitted profiles for potential waste streams to be shipped to VLS facilities
  • Coordinate waste and recyclable streams shipped outbound from VLS facilities in conjunction with the facility manager
  • Audit third-party disposal and recycling facilities as needed
  • Review and confirm waste manifests, shipping documents, as well as certificates of disposal, recycling, and destruction
  • Team with site management to resolve problem waste streams
  • Accurate and timely entry of manifest data into appropriate regulatory systems
  • Act as the main interface for the commercial team in the evaluation of new business opportunities
  • Conduct stormwater sampling and ensure data is entered accurately and timely
  • Manage all scheduled and non-scheduled compliance checks by state and federal agencies
  • Maintain all regulatory environmental reporting for sites as needed
  • Occasional travel to other VLS sites

Position Requirements
  • BS degree with significant coursework in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or other engineering/science discipline
  • Two to five years’ experience in the EHS field, with an emphasis in the areas of waste and wastewater management through either on-the-job training or coursework. Manifesting and profiling hazardous and non-hazardous waste experience required
  • In lieu of BS, AA with 7-10 years of relevant work experience in the EHS field
  • Knowledge of chemical incompatibilities and ability to recognize indicators of unstable chemicals through visual inspection and take the appropriate response actions
  • Knowledge of waste profiling processes
  • Knowledge of the waste/recycling industries in the United States
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize assignments and execute within established deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Intermediate to expert level knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access
  • Experience in RCRA, DOT and State regulatory compliance
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
