Director, Engineering 

Description

This position will lead and manage the New Product Development teams at MME group and provide technical expertise for the organization. Direct responsibilities include Design, Tooling, Program Management and Project Engineers.

  • Lead new product development from tool design into production.
  • Ensure development programs execute on timelines and within budget & provide regular effective reporting of the status of NPD programs
  • Refine engineering/NPD processes as needed to improve efficiency, communication and output
  • Lead efforts to identify outside resources when our internal team is at max capacity or doesn't have the technical expertise
  • Assess current and future technology and resource needs to support aggressive sales growth
  • Support bid and RFQ activities with appropriate and timely inputs.
  • Able to communicate project timelines, DFMA (Design for Mfg & Assembly) issues, technical information, and works closely with our internal team and external customers throughout the development and production of product.
  • Define fixture designs and automation in conjunction with the cost and time constraints of the project. Review and present alternatives while providing ROI (Return on Investment) documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline preferred.
  • 10+ years engineering experience in a manufacturing environment required
  • 5+ years leading engineering, tooling or NPD teams required
  • 5+ years' experience in injection molding required, with silicone molding experience highly preferred.
  • A comprehensive knowledge of process development and automation.
  • Secondary Operations experience with sonic welding, heat staking, feeder bowls, Pick & Place, pad printing, decorative marking, plastic joining processes, complex assemblies, robotics, and PLC Programming.
  • Comprehensive skills using Microsoft Office programs, basic CAD knowledge (Pro-E or Solid Works, Creo is a plus), and the ability to understand specialized programs used in custom equipment.
  • Strong leadership skills with an ability to motivate direct reports and lead in a changing environment.
  • Ability to be a change agent that drives change and accountability throughout the organization.
  • Excellent project management and communication skills.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to develop staff through coaching, mentoring, and training.
  • Floor focused with a visible leadership style.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with peers and have the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Strong multi-tasking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work with all levels of the organization, understand and interpret technical data, gather and analyze the date, analysis problem, determine the root cause and provide and implement solutions.
  • Walking and stair climbing is required in the office/shop areas.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 30lbs unaided.
  • Valid identification and the ability to legally work in the United States
