POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for inquiring on patient accounts, discussing patients’ financial obligations and ensuring claims are processed accurately. Additionally, this position is required to travel to all office locations to meet business needs as requested.   ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: Processes billing calls and questions from patients, answers overhead billing pages and retrieve voice message to return patient’s call. Discuss with patients their financial obligations. Check patients in for appointments in a timely fashion. Verify insurance and update patient demographics. Review patient aging report to identify outstanding balances. Call patients that are schedule for appointments and collect any balance due. Coordinate with insurance companies to resolve patient’s deductible, co-pays, co-insurance and account balances to ensure claims are accurately processed. Submit electronic and paper claims Set-up patient accounts for review to assign to outside collection agency. Work Billing Representative flag bucket daily Work Billing Questions in Chart Document daily Work Billing Email for Billing Records and Detailed Ledgers Maintains patient confidentiality by following HIPAA policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned   Position Requirements KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Knowledge of Medical Billing Knowledge of Explanation of Benefits Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10 and HCPCS codes. Knowledge insurance contracts. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations. Knowledge of business office procedures. Ability to work with currency and make change Skill in working with an EMR system Skill in communicating with patients to collect balances. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to work well under pressure. Ability to maintain professionalism at all times   EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Two - three years of medical insurance billing and/or collections experience. Detail oriented. Proficiency in researching data for analysis and closure in the accounts receivable arena. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
