POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for taking messages for incoming triage calls and returning calls in a timely manner. The triage operator is also responsible for responding to medication refill requests and communicating with pharmacies, insurance companies and other physicians’ offices as needed.   ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: Creates phone notes and routes phone notes to the appropriate person or department. Responds to patient questions directly or by researching the correct information and then calling the patient back. Attempt call backs daily for each phone note in the clinical check out bucket. Retrieves and responds to messages left on voicemail. Calls or faxes prescriptions to pharmacies in response to refill requests. Checks cardiac Clearance Faxcom folder daily and creates a cardiac clearance phone note. Address and respond to all electronic, faxed and telephone refill requests. Check emails, clinical check out flags, and patient portal messages and respond as needed daily.   Position Requirements KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations. Knowledge of business office procedures. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to multi-task. Ability to work in a fast paced-environment and work well under pressure. Ability to work effectively with others. Ability to maintain professionalism at all times. Skill in keyboard typing and use of multi-line telephone system.   EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Minimum of one (1) year cardiac experience in a medical office or health care field preferred. Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting Program or equivalent. Excellent customer service skills. Medical terminology required. Detail oriented. Familiarity with cardiac medications and procedures preferred.
