Hiring Pay Range: $16.91 - $21.14 hourly

Full Pay Range: $16.91 - $25.37 hourly

This is a full-time temporary position with benefits included

 

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:

Performs entry level eligibility determination for public assistance programs, while receiving on the job training.  Training includes instruction on applicable federal and state laws, county rules, and required computer systems.  Eligibility programs include Colorado Works (TANF), Health First Colorado, Colorado’s Medicaid Program which includes Long-Term Care (LTC, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Low-income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP), Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) and other programs as needed.  Full performance of the essential functions is preparation for the next level in the Eligibility Technician career ladder; training is generally completed after a period of one year.  There are three levels in the Eligibility Technician career ladder, this position is the first level in the series.

Non-supervisory position.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Technician A:

  • Participates in training and instruction.  Under close supervision, assists in determining financial eligibility for public assistance programs. Learns to conduct in-person and phone Interviews with clients, collects application information, and reviews applications for eligibility programs eligibility.
  • Inputs data into State and County systems for new cases and information changes to current cases such as new addresses, phone numbers, birth of children, loss of family member, age limitations, addition of household members and other household information as required for certain programs.
  • Studies and learns the applicable rules and regulations.  Develops skill in interpretation and application of required rules for efficient application processes.
  • Develops skills in client interactions customer service focused client interactions which include application assistance, home visits, client interviews, and appropriate business communications such as phone calls, emailing, and mailing of forms.
  • Provides exceptional customer services and ensures that client-based tasks, community questions, or provider requests are completed in a timely manner.
  • Competes required administrative tasks such as filing, paperwork completion checklists, and organization of cases in appropriate system.

  • Speak, read and write the English language.
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing, including generating/writing reports and business correspondence. 
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism while performing essential job functions.
 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One-year previous working experience which should include customer service, and a demonstrated ability to use and learn new business technologies.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Valid Driver’s License

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous experience in a human service-related position.

Work environment is primarily office based and requires extended periods of sitting. 

 

REQUIRED TRAVEL

Work is conducted in a variety of County buildings located throughout the County. Travel between Parachute, Rifle and Glenwood Springs based worksites is required.  Occasionally, the position requires travel for site visits, trainings, or other meetings.

 

Work Hours:

Work is generally performed Monday – Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, alternative schedules may be available.

 

TECHNOLOGY:

Computer and relevant software applications; standard office equipment, email, and relevant databases.
