Share Email Opening Apply Now Title Direct Support Professional -On Call-(North Las Vegas, Southwest, Southeast, & Henderson Locations)   Category Personal Care/Production   Description SUMMARY Under the direction of Lead Direct Support Professional, the Direct Support Professional will provide support to individuals with developmental disabilities. The Direct Support Professional will assist in the development and implementation of individual support plans as part of a day habilitation placement for people with disabilities. Reinforce and positively engage in Opportunity Villages organizational culture supporting choice and creativity of clients and of staff.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES See addendums for responsibilities and competencies for specific departmental functional roles Provide active engagement, routine health and personal care support (i.e. eating, toileting, and exercising) and assistance with daily activities. Conduct the care needs of the individuals within the program with or without physical assistance. Support individual program plan (ISP)/vocational plans to ensure they are implemented on a day-to-day basis and collaborate with Case manager as needed. Participate and document of all service plans and habilitation. Ensure all proper documentation is complete (i.e. ID notes, vital sheets, communication logs, schedules, RAD forms and incident reports). Ensure equipment is clean, safe and functioning. Comply with all Federal, State (Desert Regional Center) and local regulations and requirements, and company policies and procedures. Collaborate with other staff and volunteers to ensure that all adults with disabilities have the opportunity to: Gain knowledge of self-management and behavioral skills that will enhance their contribution and integration into the community. Promote an abuse and neglect free environment. Assist and guide clients through creative activities and expressions of talents. Report suspected Mistreatment within 24 hours as mandated by state law. Perform other duties as assigned.   SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position has no supervisory responsibilities.           Position Requirements SKILLS REQUIRED Ability to care, respond and work with individuals with developmental disabilities. Must encompass professional demeanor. Ability to define problems and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret instructions, gain knowledge and have initiative. Must possess social discernment to assess and understand other’s reactions and behaviors.   Language Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, co-workers, and supervisors (verbal and written) and the ability to build collaborative relationships at all levels with proven ability to exhibit tact and diplomacy in sensitive situations. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, such as policy and procedure manuals, maintenance instructions, and other related documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries from other employees or guests. Fluency in English required, second language a plus. Ability to write detailed instructions and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations.   Mathematical Skills & Reasoning Ability: Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations. Ability to decipher various reports and maintains reports upon request.   EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Required:  High School Diploma or equivalent. Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid Certification is required or the ability to supply certification within 30 days of hire. Current Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification is required or must be obtained within 90 days of hire.   Preferred: One (1) year of verifiable work experience in health care, day care, mental health, education or related field.   PHYSICAL ABILITIES & WORK ENVIRONMENT The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform essential functions of the job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties and functions of the position.
