Description

SUMMARY

Support technician for activities associated with Manufacturing Engineering focused on secondary machining.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Follows all IATF16949 Procedures and Work Instructions in the performance of these duties.

Works closely with both the Engineering team and the Secondary Department Setups.

Implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods as directed and in accordance with product specifications and quality standards.

Recommends, coordinates, and implements improvements to production processes, methods, and controls.

Troubleshoots processing and testing equipment.

Provides support for production and maintenance in the Secondary Department.

Develops and trains additional personnel to the Secondary program as needs arise.

Provides training to Secondary Setups on all shifts as needed.

Provides training on and executes the preventative and regular maintenance program in the Secondary Department.

Performs tool studies, monitors, and run tests as required.

Participates in the management of secondary tool inventories, (tools, collets, bars, jaws, grippers, etc).

Participates in layered audits as required.

Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD Modeling (Solid Edge)
Blueprint Reading
Proper Dimensioning, Print Reading with GD&T application
Microsoft Office
Hands-on Process Knowledge of Machining: Setup and Adjust Lathe/Mill/etc., Create G-Code/M-Code Programming, Tool and Work-holding Selection, Proper PM/PD maintenance practices.
Practical problem-solving techniques (8D, 4M, 5Why, Know/Don’t Know, Kata, DOE)

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate of Applied Science Degree (A.A.S.); plus six months machining experience preferred or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have the ability to work in a team environment and be able to multi-task.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to speak effectively in one-on-one and small group situations to supervisors, managers and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud when in production and quiet when in the office.
