We are looking for an experienced Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) Project Engineer to join our team in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will:

  • Compile and interpret ship design and construction requirements through research of ship specifications and engineering drawings.
  • Write Statements of Work to accomplish post-delivery shipboard changes.
  • Conduct occasional on-site ship check inspections for specifications compliance.
  • Create briefs to explain and summarize technical issues, ship capabilities, change history, and other projects as dictated by Navy customer.
  • Write and edit official Navy Correspondence Letters.
  • The HM&E categories are divided among the team - this specific position is responsible for Auxiliaries, which encompasses: diesel generators, AC plants, ballast systems, HVAC, refrigerator and freezer systems, fuel systems, steering gear, hot water heaters, cranes and replenishment systems, and equipment interfaces with the Machinery Control System.
 
Position Requirements

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • 5 years of combined direct experience is required. In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 12 years of applicable work experience. Experience with integrating system changes to technical documentation is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of shipbuilding (acquisition, design, production, and test and trials) is preferred. An understanding of NAVSEA and supporting organizational processes, roles, and responsibilities is highly desirable. Previous HM&E, Navy, or Merchant Marine experience is highly desirable.
  • Must possess a current Secret clearance or must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance post hire.
  • US Citizenship is a prerequisite.

Some TCG customers require individuals providing support to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations. COVID-19 vaccination status may affect employment opportunities.
