Account Executive - Wholesale Insurance Brokerage - Property 


Position Summary:

Maintain relationships with customers and underwriters. Review, develop strategies and monitor renewal and new business submissions.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain customer relations to the highest level possible by making personal visits to enhance company presence as required. If appropriate, meet with retail customer and/or insured to present an insurance program. Explain policies and/or coverage issues to retail customers and negotiate modifications with underwriters. Identify opportunities to leverage synergies with customers and insurance companies
  • Learn and increase systems skills to improve efficiency and Suggest changes to production-related procedures
  • Submit comments to the Practice Group Leader/Broker/COO with respect to the performance of Associate Brokers and Production Assistants. Assist in the assessment and coordination of technical training requirements for Associate Brokers and Production Assistants
  • Keep apprised of new developments in the industry by attending meetings and networking with industry professionals. May attend industry conventions as necessary
  • Meet quality measurement goals by delivering high quality service in marketing new and renewal business to underwriters. Through the submission process, help the Broker meet and exceed client expectations by clearly defining and managing client coverage goals, priorities, and overall expectations. Frequently update the client on marketing progress, as directed by the Broker. Gather and develop complete loss summaries and analysis. Prepare high quality, error free submissions and provide effective verbal presentations to underwriters. Ultimately responsible for the quality, timeliness, and accuracy of quotes, binders, checklists and other marketing file documentation. Identify and correct inconsistencies or errors in relevant documents and promptly correct/clarify same with the client and/or underwriter. Assist Broker in soliciting timely and substantive responses to submissions and effectively negotiate pricing and terms with most underwriters
  • Meet quality measurement goals by delivering high quality service in servicing assigned clients and accounts. Accurately communicate coverage terms and all other information between clients and underwriters. Above all, ensure that the policy delivered to client is what was promised by Brown & Riding
  • Works with management and broker to establish revenue expectation

Other Responsibilities:

  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned
  • Work closely with COO and assigned Broker(s) in identifying other projects where skills, experience and knowledge can be utilized
  • Mentor and develop staff by providing continuous performance feedback, coaching, and mentoring
  • Prepare and present seminars or sales presentations and instruct training and/or continuing education classes as required


Position Requirements

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

  • Licensed – Fire & Casualty
  • Minimum of 10 years insurance experience
  • Strong preference for commercial property and casualty & surplus line experience
  • Exceptional organization, follow-up, communication, management, leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Possess an intuitive and proactive approach to business problems and solutions
  • Exhibit good listening skills and a willingness to help and support others
  • Advanced skill level in PC software (Word, Excel and PowerPoint and other software, as required)
  • Ability to be flexible in work schedule as needed
  • Utilizes reasoning ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions

Work Environment

  • Physical activities of job are within the normal expectations of an office environment where the amount of standing, walking, sitting, reaching, and other movements are within the control of the incumbent.
  • Vision requirements are in the normal range, correctible with glasses or contacts, where color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception have no significant impact on job performance.
  • Working environment is generally within the confines of an office where normal climate conditions support effective job performance. Some daily travel may include limited time spent outside in the elements as part of the normal commute.
  • Risk of exposure to hazardous materials, electrical shock, explosives, radiation, vibration or airborne particles are at the extreme minimum. Protective clothing is usually not necessary to effective job performance or safety.

Salary Range: $80,000 to $110,000 annually
