The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures furthers the understanding, celebration, and preservation of cinema through inclusive and accessible exhibitions, screenings, programs, initiatives, and collections. Welcoming visitors from Los Angeles and around the world, the Museum works in active ‘partnership with motion picture artists and specialists, scholars, staff, and diverse communities to contextualize and challenge dominant narratives around cinema, inspiring discourse, connection, joy, and discovery.

Reporting to the Manager of Events, the Production Assistant will provide key project support to the Events and Talent Relations team related to operational logistics, planning, and execution, including set up and strike of meetings and events at the Academy Museum, Academy Headquarters, and the Pickford Center for Motion Picture Study. You will assist with both internal and client events—serving as a liaison to the internal operating teams (Facilities, Engineering, Security, Theater Operations, and Visitor Experience). The position requires a positive attitude, as well as the ability to problem-solve and successfully communicate with internal teams, clients, and vendors.

You Will:

  • Provide on-site support for general production needs (including pre/post-event).
  • Serve as event team representative during installation and strike as scheduled.
  • Support communication between Events, Catering, Facilities, Engineering, Security, and Theater Operations via work orders and other internal systems.
  • Lead client/vendor walkthroughs and post-event walkthroughs.
  • Track RSVPs and guest lists; work event check-ins.
  • Assist with parking requests with partner garages and valets.
  • Work on special projects as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

You Have:

  • 1+ years prior experience in live/special events, production, or hospitality.
  • A valid driver license with a reliable mode of transportation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace (e.g., calendars, spreadsheets).
  • Familiarity with layout, seating, and guest registration software a plus.
  • A friendly, professional, and enthusiastic attitude. Must enjoy working with event clients, vendors, and the public.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • A commitment to diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift/move objects (up to 30 lbs.)

 

Other Requirements:

  • Full vaccination against COVID-19 is required, including any booster vaccinations as applicable.

The expected base hourly wage for this role is $18.00. The actual base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and other factors permitted by law. Decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis.
