The Shop Foreman is responsible for ensuring (1) the proper repair and servicing of all the vehicles taken in by the service department, (2) maintaining technician productivity at levels determined by service management. This task is accomplished by providing direct on-the-job assistance to technicians, coordinating and conducting training, inspecting job for proper completion, and creating and environment for high productivity through motivational leadership and effective administration. (3) Maintain a high level of product and technical knowledge and practical experience through the study of technical manuals and bulletins, classroom training, communication with factory service representatives, and actual hands-on experience. (4) Maintain shop equipment and general shop upkeep. (5) Assist in the training of apprentice technicians.
