SUMMARY
Under minimal supervision, evaluate, authorize, or recommend approval of Secondary Market Mortgage Loans. Advise borrowers on financial status and methods of payment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Maintain strict privacy regarding customer account information. Discuss and communicate complex and sometimes sensitive subjects with clarity and tact. Maintain strong understanding of and adhere to federal and state laws surrounding loans, both for educating clients on how the process works and for checking the accuracy of applications.
  1. Provide customers with exceptional customer service and executes operational excellence. In person: Greet every customer with a smile, maintain eye contact, call them by name, stay connected in conversation and let them know they are appreciated. When on the telephone: Speak with a smile, call them by name, stay connected in the conversation and let them know they are appreciated.
  1. Develop profitable and quality residential mortgages by building personal relationships with community members and clients. Develop referral contacts (realtors, builders, financial planners, accountants, professional and personal contacts). Work with assigned marketing and lending team and branch offices to ensure awareness of products and assist with attracting potential borrowers by cultivating relationships with professionals listed above.
  1. Evaluate and assess credit potential with prospective customers. Accurately analyze client financial histories and credit worthiness. Determine loan payments (amounts, interest rates, specified length of terms, amortization periods and payment frequencies). Knowledge of integers, rational numbers, percentages, and ability to count, round off, add, or subtract, and multiply or divide whole numbers.
  1. Analyze and visually review customer personal financial information to determine which products meet their needs and to provide recommendations regarding products to customers.
  1. Ability to use common sense understanding in order to carry out detailed written or oral instructions when counseling and pre-qualifying potential clients. Frequently read, interpret, write routine reports, documents and correspondence while keeping informed of all origination, processing, appraisal, underwriting and closing requirements for both company and investor guidelines pertaining to both government insured and privately insured mortgages.
  1. Frequently advises and counsels the customer to the advantages and disadvantages of differing financial products. Regularly communicate information and respond to questions person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, vendors, general public and other employees of the organization.
  1. Advise customers on the completion of loan applications and provides excellent customer service throughout the loan approval and closing process. Provide progress reports to the client and resolve any discrepancies that might arise.
  1. Keep up to date on lending policies/regulations, pricing, and product.
  1. Represent First Security Bank in various community activities.
  1. Must be able to arrive at work on time, work on site and work cooperatively with other co-workers regardless of personality, presence, or communication style.
  1. Ability to operate a keyboard, telephone, scanner, and copier. Must have strong computer skills including general knowledge in: MS Office Outlook, typing, 10-key, and the internet. Proficiency to operate internal bank software, Encompass Software, and Mortgage proprietary software will be required.
  1. Complete all on-line compliance Teal Training courses timely.
  1. Additional duties may be assigned or required by management.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

SCHEDULED HOURS: 40 Hours per week
Monday - Friday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM *Extended working hours may be required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS | EDUCATION | EXPERIENCE:

Candidate must be a minimum of 18 years of age

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Post-Secondary Schooling preferred.
  • 2 years Mortgage Originator experience highly preferred.
  • Previous experience in Mortgage required.
  • Working knowledge of accounting practices in order to analyze client's finances and understand how that influences their options.
  • Knowledge of real estate market in local area.
  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and exceptional customer service performance.
  • Demonstrated initiative in the workplace by exceeding performance expectations, being proactive and identifying improvement opportunities.

Physical Demands
The employee must possess sufficient mobility to work in and move about in a standard office setting and sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment. Substantial time may be spent on the telephone and working on a computer, sitting and/or standing. The employee must have the ability to hear and articulate well enough to carry on a normal conversation, both in person and over the telephone. Visual abilities required by this job include the ability to read materials in either a printed format or on a computer screen. The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 10 pounds.

Mental Demands
The duties of this position require the ability to maintain attention to detail and complete work projects accurately in a short amount of time, despite interruptions.
