SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Director of Development, the Annual Giving Manager will have primary responsibility for ensuring a successful annual fund and related campaigns and appeals. The Annual Giving Manager will focus on strategically expanding the organization's annual giving program with a goal of significantly increasing the base of annual gifts. This position will oversee This position plans and manages all aspects of the Annual Giving program including direct mail and e-mail solicitation strategies, as well as being responsible for maintaining donor data integrity within the donor database.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Secure new, renewed, or increased funding from individuals through online giving, direct mail and digital campaigns, special events, and direct proposals.
  2. Guide the direct mail and digital solicitation strategy and manage Annual Giving to the organization.
  3. Create, implement, and evaluate the organization’s annual fund campaign, including mailings, appeals, reports, and other relevant correspondence.
  4. Plan and execute steps for donor identification, cultivation, prospecting, segmenting, acknowledgement, recognition and stewardship for annual donors giving unrestricted gifts to the annual fund.
  5. Liaise with Communications team, firms, and vendors to design and manage a comprehensive direct mail program and digital giving strategies and analyze direct mail/digital solicitation program results data to refine and increase ROI.
  6. In collaboration with the Resource Development team, raise the funds for the comprehensive campaign (endowment, events, legacy giving, the capital campaign and other fundraising related tasks) with the main focus on a rotating annual giving calendar.
  7. Work closely with Communication team to develop and manage consistent messaging to donors and prospects that aligns with solicitation and donor-specific stewardship communications.
  8. Use Donor Perfect software to track, solicit and report on all prospects. Assure accurate and timely action entry, reporting, and stewardship.
  9. Work closely with the marketing team to support the creation and maintenance of communication platforms, presentations, committee and donor presentations, and reports.
  10. Oversee strategy and implementation for Giving Tuesday and other giving days
  11. Solicit contributions ranging from $250 - $2500 or more.
  12. Lead communication for the Annual Campaign Team with other departments, responding to inquiries regarding development operations and activities.
  13. Support preparation of accurate, accessible and attractive quarterly reports and campaign progress reports for senior managers and board committees.
  14. Maintain stewardship contacts with donors; adhere to the highest ethical standards; demonstrate empathetic disposition, and perseverance; reflect optimistic and positive attitude, and convey sensitivity to needs of the donors.
  15. Work closely with Director of Community Engagement to design and implement a strategic program to engage volunteers in becoming supporters of the annual giving campaign
  16. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

 

 
Position Requirements

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Demonstrated track record of developing and executing successful annual fundraising strategies.
  • Well versed in direct mail and digital solicitation best practices and implementation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, co-workers and supervisors (verbal and written) and work across organizational divisions to maximize results.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of gift processing and acknowledgement practice
  • Proficient in donor database formats; knowledge of Donor Perfect preferred.
  • Goal orientated with the social, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of market and competition.
  • Develops and implements cost savings measures; conserves resources; focus on budget and cost savings.
  • Displays a high level of integrity and professionalism; creative, flexible, and resourceful.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment and to manage simultaneously a variety of projects.
  • Demonstrated ability in building relationships with donors via all channels of communication (phone, in-person, email, and social media).
  • Ability to use donor databases and set strategy based on data analytics.
  • Willingness to work nights and weekends.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Fundraising, Nonprofit Administration, Business or related field or equivalent.
  • Required: Minimum of three (3) years' experience as a development professional or equivalent
  • Required: Experience working with high-level decision makers, trustees, and other stakeholders.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of local philanthropic community.
  • Preferred: Experience with Donor Perfect of other donor database software.
  • Preferred: Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
