For more information please visit www.astrazeneca.com .   Description Location: Gathiersburg, MD   We are currently seeking students working in degree towards a bachelor's (rising seniors) or master's degree in computer science, data science, statistics, biomedical engineering, Math, Bioinformatics for an internship assignment    Objectives/Goals of the Position:  In this role you will collaborate and work with data scientists and stakeholders from AZ to develop innovative Machine Learning and Deep learning models to unlock novel insights from medical imaging. In this role, you will work have a chance to work on diverse challenges such as multi-instance learning, self-supervised learning, multi-modality combination, medical segmentation and so on.     As a Data Science Intern you will...  Explore, develop and utilize data science and artificial intelligence skills within biomedical applications. Collaborate with AstraZeneca’s data scientists in applying machine learning, AI, and data science techniques to help push the boundaries of science to develop life changing medicines for patients worldwide.  Support AstraZeneca’s data scientists in developing and implementing solutions designed to drive the interrogation of datasets for biological insights.    Primary Duties:  Develop imaging data science solutions using computer vision and machine learning techniques for multiple therapeutic areas   Communicate results clearly and objectively, as well as associated uncertainties and limitations within agreed frameworks.  Develop, implement and document required code and algorithms in a manner that meets AstraZeneca's best practice requirements.  Participate in any academic paper that might arise from the work.    Position Requirements Rising college seniors (undergraduate students) or graduate students pursuing a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Math, Bioinformatics, Quantitative Biology, Physics, Pharmacology, Bioinformatics PhD, MD or MD/PhD background that meets eligible criteria.  Sustainable coding practises such as good design principles, github, docker and so on.  The candidate should be familiar with python and have some experience with NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, Scikit learn, Keras, Tensorflow and Pytorch.  Basic statistical and data science knowledge, data visualization, machine learning, computer vision techniques.  Deep learning and other computer vision methods for segmentation, registration, self-supervised learning, multi-modality combination, outlier detection.  Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0+.    Full-Time/Part-Time Seasonal   Location Gaithersburg, MD   This position is currently not accepting applications.
