This position will report to the Chief Scientific Officer. Duties Will Include But Not Limited to the Following Provide expert advice on biomarker selection, characterization and development for immunological disorders e.g. rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, psoriasis, or infectious diseases for clinical trials and standard patient care. Contribute to the overall strategy and direction of Immunology and infectious disease biomarkers including adapting and modifying objectives based on deep knowledge of the subject matter, feedback of team members and other stakeholders, and focus on current/future state scientific and business drivers. Assess and monitor strategic position and marketplace presence of key competitors in Immunology and infectious diseases and provide scientific input to market strategy and competitive positioning as appropriate. Evaluate standard and emerging technologies and platforms to aid in defining and implementing biomarkers for immunological disorders and infectious diseases. Design assay validation or verification protocol, manage and oversee its execution, compile, analyze and interpret data, and draft assay validation report. Draft a lab manual to assure proper sample collection, processing, transportation and storage, and work with the central lab director, operation to coordinate activities such as sample management, tracking and reconciliation. Ability to perform in-silico analysis and review of literature, public databases to find different options, and design cell-based, e.g. flow cytometry, nucleic acid-based molecular, e.g. NGS, PCR, dPCR, and serology assays. Proactively establish capabilities in areas of unmet needs and assess analytical feasibility. Interact with the CSO, R&D Head and other functions to ensure appropriate resources are established to direct assay development or assay transfer and its implementation for a new biomarker test. Provide consultation and address client questions in real time. Manage the budget and resources for the overall department. Provide scientific input into defining value propositions for multiple audiences, including management, clients, and investigators. Ability to train, coach and demonstrate to bench technologists.   Position Requirements Education/Qualifications PhD degree in one of the biological sciences. Board certification in immunology, microbiology or virology is preferred. Experience 7-10 years of experience in Immunology and infectious diseases at a clinical laboratory or Pharma/Biotech. Strong scientific background in immunology or related field supported by publication record in these areas. Experience in traditional and molecular technologies in immunology and infectious diseases, and functional assays of immune cell function. Self-organized and operate effectively without significant day-to-day oversight, while following the CSO high level instructions and staying tightly connected to key stakeholders. Demonstrated experience in biomarker discovery and development and assay validation. Proven experienced in leading projects from rationale to successful clinical test. Strong interpersonal, organization, time-management, and communication skills.
