Description

We are seeking Principal Scientist of Flow Cytometry and CTC. This position will report to the Cheif Scientific Officer.

Duties Will Include But Not Limited to the Following:

  • Provide expert advice on flow cytometry and circulating tumor cell (CTC)-based biomarker selection, characterization and development for oncology, immunology and infectious diseases.
  • Evaluate standard and emerging circulating cells-based technologies, off-shelf assays and raw reagents to establish test panels for oncology, immunology and infectious diseases.
  • Design, develop, validate and implement low complexity and high complexity multiparameter conventional flow cytometry, florescent image flow cytometry and florescence activate cell sorting panels for drug discovery and patient standard care.
  • Design assay validation or verification protocol, perform the bench work, compile, analyze and interpret data, and draft assay validation report.
  • Draft a lab manual to assure proper sample collection, processing, transportation and storage, and work with the central lab director and operation to coordinate activities such as sample management, tracking and reconciliation.
  • Isolate mononuclear cells from a variety of sample types, including whole blood and bone marrow, for flow cytometry and downstream assays.
  • Manage the budget and resources for the flow cytometry and CTC.
  • Troubleshoot to fix emerging analytical issues or to optimize an assay performance.
  • Optimize and qualify assays for characterization and analytical testing of cell therapy products.
  • Author and review test method SOPs, method development reports, qualification protocols, risk assessments, and transfers methods to partner functions, and represent the Analytical Flow Cytometry team in cross-functional meetings.

Responsible for operation and maintenance of flow cytometers.

 
Position Requirements

Education/Qualifications

  • PhD degree in one of the biological sciences.

Experience

  • 5-7 years of experience in flow cytometry at a clinical laboratory, Pharma/Biotech and/or academic institutions. Experience in assay development, optimization, qualification, validation, and troubleshooting using platforms including BD and or Beckman-Coulter.
  • Strong scientific background in multi-parameter flow cytometry including cell separation/sorting.
  • Experience in functional assays of immune cell function.
  • Self-organized and operate effectively without significant day-to-day oversight, while following the CSO high level instructions and staying tightly connected to key stakeholders.
  • Basic knowledge in oncology, immunology and/or infectious disease.
  • Experience in mammalian cell culture.
  • Prior experience with cell proliferation, cytokine release, or potency assay development is preferred.
  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills.
  • Must be detailed oriented, well organized, and have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
