Business Analyst, Financial Systems

Description

In search of a solution-oriented, self-motivated individual to identify, define, and develop best practices in the financial systems of an established manufacturing and distribution company. This is a newly created role and will be challenged in analyzing and improving upon past practices to meet the current goals and expectations of optimizing processes and reducing costs. The team will look for data-driven solutions by analyzing and testing current and prospective tools and technologies.

While the primary responsibility of this role will be testing and documenting positive changes for the company, maintaining the current operating system is crucial to the overall success of the team. To achieve this goal, this position will be expected to communicate across departments with stakeholders of all levels.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead member in the audit of current financial systems, which will include working with power users to analyze and document current practices and how systems are connected
  • Provide leadership and input across departments during the planning and implementation of business processes and related systems
  • Identify, develop, and test solutions in the company’s financial systems
  • Document current operating procedures and develop best practices across the company
  • Provide support to users across the company when issues arise with financial systems – this includes troubleshooting and logging issues for future reference
  • Assist in maintaining the company’s financial systems, including working with IT and the Finance department to schedule maintenance, set up new users, and provide upload support

Experience

The key indicator of success in this role will be driving positive changes in connecting the initial user’s movement to financial statements, while not disrupting the user experience in the process. The candidate must be driven to seek improvements while also attaining the company’s goals – this will include listening to and analyzing the current practices across the company and developing best practices for the future. Other needs:

  • Ability to communicate with colleagues and stakeholders across various departments
  • Willingness to communicate with customers and vendors as needed to achieve goals
  • Ability to analyze data and provide logical conclusions
  • A clear understanding of how financial systems work, from both a technology and accounting perspective
  • Be proficient in designing and implementing changes when necessary
  • Deliver clear and concise documentation on procedures for using financial systems
  • Strong interpersonal and communicative skills are needed to train in proper use of technology
 
Position Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in IT or Accounting related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years of experience in a role specifically dealing with the maintenance or implementation of ERP systems
  • Clear and consistent communication skills with the ability to ask relevant probing questions to get to the root cause
  • Must be detail-oriented, organized and be able to multi-task across multiple projects
  • Experience constructing documentation on procedures concerning financial systems
  • Preferred: Experience with SYSPRO and/or multiple roles within an ERP system
  • Preferred: Proficiency in using SQL to access and update databases
