SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Director of Operations, the Production Manager is directly responsible for the continued operational success of Opportunity Village’s Employment Resource Centers (ERC). This includes leading staff, volunteers, individuals served, and internal fiscal controls. The Production Manager ensures vocational training and support for workers with disabilities are received to fulfill program goals and meet budget requirements. The Production Manager will direct and coordinate the production of all goods and services associated with all assigned contracts. This position will ensure the coordination of production with procurement schedules, equipment maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Maintain excellent standards in all areas of processing and production operational activity; drive profitability through the development of performance plans and goals.
  2. Responsible for the ERC performance, production, and fiscal.
  3. Daily production scheduling based on customer needs and deadlines.
  4. Manage ordering of necessary internal and external materials to complete contracts.
  5. Establish training and support plans for each contract.
  6. Maintained equipment service and maintenance needs.
  7. Prepare monthly variance report with analysis and detailed justification.
  8. Collect and compile daily production counts and input them into the tracking system.
  9. Provide continuous improvement processes to existing and future contracts.
  10. Functional area of operation, as applicable to the specified functional area of focus.
  11. Challenge the status quo and champions new initiatives; act as a catalyst of change and stimulate others to change, and effectively manage implementation.
  12. Ensure compliance with program objectives, agency policy and procedures, Health and Safety/OSHA regulations, as well as State and Federal Regulations.
  13. Monitor the profit and loss reports for ERC operations departments and develop effective ways to fill in any gaps between actual performance and company projections.
  14. Develop schedules for staff to maintain adequate personnel to accomplish tasks.
  15. Ensure an adequate workforce is maintained in order to complete contracts on time.
  16. Ensure quality of finished goods with the timely and accurate shipment or scheduled delivery of products to ensure customer satisfaction.
  17. Assist with month-end inventory counts.
  18. Ensure that subordinate management, as well as other organization personnel, are being identified, trained, and developed to the highest standards possible.
  19. Perform other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, individuals, co-workers, and supervisors (verbal and written).
  • Ability to respond and work with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Ability to define problems and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret instructions, gain knowledge and have initiative.
  • Computer literate. (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, Great plains)
  • Ability to evaluate overall operations in order to detect deficiencies and implement appropriate corrective action.
  • Ability to assess emergency situations and act in an appropriate and therapeutic manner.
  • Must encompass professional demeanor and excellent customer service skills.
  • Must exhibit business acumen, specifically in regard to integrity and ethics.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Required: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Required: Two–four years of verifiable work experience in manufacturing, distribution, warehouse, production, or related field.
  • Required: Five–seven years managing people: including but not limited to hiring, training, orientations, counseling/disciplinary actions, scheduling, deadlines, tracking, and various spreadsheet reporting.
  • Preferred: Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in business, manufacturing, or a related field.

  • Ability to tolerate stress in a customer-facing position and conduct tasks successfully under critical deadlines.
  • Ability to sit at a computer for prolonged periods of time.
