Share Email Opening Title Grant and Contract Accountant  Position Grant and Contract Accountant   Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time   Base Wage $26.38 - $28.99/hr based on education and experience   Description SAL Community Services (SAL), home to Skip-a-Long Childhood Centers, is the Quad Cities area’s leading provider of early childhood care and education and now includes the Prevention Initiative (PI) program. We provide a safe, secure and supportive environment centered on how playing can charge the mind of the children we care for. SAL is seeking a Grant and Contract Accountant to maintain accurate accounting records and financial statements for our PI program along with other SAL contracts. This means you’ll do things like: Oversee the financial management and monitor compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, company procedures, and rules and regulations regarding proper use of assigned grant funds and contracts. Prepare grant reports for the CFO and Director, executive leadership, Finance Committee, and Board of Directors. Monitor coding and allocations between programs and the assigned grants. Reconcile and analyze all related general ledger journals, ledgers, and/or other records on a monthly basis for accuracy of coding by program and department, to post transfers for grant revenue, and any other items related to the grant. Assist with any and all audit preparation and needs. Oversee period close processes to include monthly, quarterly, and annual timeframes for all assigned grants/contracts. Provide program directors, leadership, and funders with timely reports of financial status and progress. Prepare cost analysis of variances in actual to budgeted expenses. Prepare and maintain budgets, prepare year-end projections, and track ongoing budget analysis and funds. Develop and maintain grant and contract policies and procedures. Oversee activities related to the procurement, execution, and reporting of contracts to include Illinois and Iowa DHS and CACFP. Qualifications: Must obtain background clearances, be fully-vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine, be able to complete physical tasks such as sit, stand, lift 10 pounds, have at least two years of experience, and have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
