Share Email Opening Title Mechanic (Heavy Equipment) (Halifax, MA)  Description Full time, hourly position. Candidate is a skilled heavy vehicle, diesel and mobile equipment mechanic with the ability to diagnose most problems and perform the appropriate repairs. This position routinely requires moderate to extreme physical exertion and may require prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, squatting and working in awkward positions. You will be exposed to extreme weather conditions, dust, dirt and shop environment, as well as traffic during road calls. Responsibilities and Duties Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment & vehicle problems to determine method and extent of repairs needed. Read, interpret, analyze and apply information in technical manuals, computer programs and schematics. Perform preventative maintenance and repair of on-road vehicles. Safely operate equipment, standard and specialty tools, welders, hoists and other lifting devices, etc. on a daily basis. Maintain work area and shop in a clean, organized and safe manner. Follow all company safety policies and procedures. Other duties as required.   Position Requirements Requirements and Skills – The ideal candidate will have; A High School diploma or GED. Vocational or Technical School certification Three or more years’ experience repairing and maintaining trucks or heavy equipment. The ability to communicate effectively (verbally, listening and written). Proficiency with torches and ability to arc weld. A valid drivers’ license, DOT health card and MA 1B/2A hoisting license. A CDL license is a plus. Their own tools necessary for the position. The willingness and availability to work overtime and Saturdays as needed. The ability to be a self-starter and be able to work with limited supervision. Working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and PLC systems. The ability to routinely lift heavy items. Benefit package includes life, health, dental and 401k with company match. Wages commensurate with experience.
