Job Summary

Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Events A/V, you will be responsible for assisting in the technical operation and internal event production for all non-exhibition audio/visual experiences at the Academy Museum. This includes events across our unique campus and all Academy facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and implement in-house lighting, audio, and video equipment.
  • Liaise with internal and external space users to determine audiovisual requirements and execution of events.
  • Collaborate with vendors to provide additional event audio/visual equipment and lighting for large-scale events.
  • Create basic lighting designs for public programs and events.
  • Support the implementation of live streaming.
  • Test A/V equipment and perform troubleshooting.
  • Support the ongoing maintenance of all audio/visual equipment.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience with A/V over IP and digital media editing for broadcast, including live streaming.
  • A valid California Driver License.
  • Strong knowledge of state-of-the-industry lighting, audio, live recording, and video equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate lighting and audio consoles.
  • Ability to translate complex technical jargon into simple terms for non-technical staff.
  • Familiarity with guiding others through operational tasks.
  • Customer service oriented as it relates to museums, theaters, or cultural attractions is a plus.
  • Comfortable communication and cooperation with guests, supervisors, peers, vendors, or partners.
  • Excellent problem solving and communication skills. A curiosity and willingness to learn.
  • Comfort in occasionally working alone and unsupervised.
  • Ability to work in high-volume and fast-paced situations.

  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and short notice events.

 

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift and/or move a minimum of 30 pounds.

This position will be an Academy of Motion Pictures employee but will report to the Academy Museum.

 

The expected base hourly wage range for this role is $26.44 to $28.00. The actual base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and other factors permitted by law. Decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis.
