Skip-a-Long Childhood Centers, part of SAL Community Services, is the Quad Cities area's leading provider of early childhood care and education. We provide a safe, secure and supportive environment centered on how playing can charge the mind of the children we care for.

As an Early Childhood Assistant Teacher on our team, you will create a quality learning environment that actively engages children to both learn and play. You will play a role in enhancing the physical, emotional, cognitive, and social growth of children. This means you'll do things like:

  • Ensure lesson plans are followed;
  • Assess the developmental needs of children to build their knowledge and skills;
  • Develop positive working relationships with families; and,
  • Participate in personal development to grow your own knowledge, skills and abilities as an early childhood educator.

Minimum Requirements

All Early Childhood Education Assistant Teachers must obtain background clearances, be fully-vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine, be able to complete physical tasks such as sit, stand, lift 25 pounds, and view children, and have a high school diploma or GED. Additional detail will be provided prior to an interview. Requests for reasonable accommodation as required under applicable law will be considered.

SALCS operates Skip-a-Long Child Development Services - early care and education centers in Iowa and Illinois, The Home Child Care Network - a network of licensed and license-exempt home child care providers in both the Quad Cities and Peoria areas, Open Door - a crisis assistance program funded by IDHS to help individuals and families in crisis navigate local social services, SAL Child Care Connection - the child care resource and referral program in Peoria, IL, the Child Care Resource and Referral of Midwestern Illinois that serves the Illinois Quad Cities and surrounding counties, and Early Head Start Child Care Partnerships that serve Rock Island, Henry, and Mercer Counties in Illinois.
