We are seeking to hire Senior Marine Safety/Safety Management System Specialists to join our team in either Washington, D.C. or Norfolk, VA. Upon award, the position will:

  • Support the Safety Management System (SMS) Program by conducting Job Hazard Analysis’ on MSC class vessels, supporting procedure development, technical reviews, audits and training support.
 
Position Requirements

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience conducting audits IAW International Safety Management (ISM) Code.
  • Able to demonstrate experience with each of: SOLAS, Life Saving Appliance Code, International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code, CFR 33, CFR 46, MARPOL, and Fire Safety System Code.
  • Individual must have held a U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Merchant Marine Chief Mate, Unlimited Tonnage, or First Assistant Engineer of Steam/Motor/Gas Turbine, Unlimited Horsepower, or higher Credential and be able to produce proof of same.
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ actual sea service sailing under that license on board a USCG certificated ship.
  • ISM Auditor Certification. - OR -
  • Valid Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF) Ship Inspector Accreditation. - OR-
  • Current Certified Safety Professional accreditation issued from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals.
  • U.S. Citizenship is a prerequisite.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

This position is contingent upon and subject to the award of the contract from the government. You will be hired on a contingency basis.
